thanks man..There is no bigger rush for me than catching these giants...I love all fishing, but fishing for gator gar is a bit on the extreme side..I suppose it satisfies a little of my need for adrenaline...Nothing like finally getting one close to the bank and having the sleeping giant explode back into action slinging white water everywhere and leaving swirls that are 10 ft. wide....

Plus I just like to catch fish that pull drag....

Awesome.. If I had to guess the weight it probably be between 80-100. A buddy got one in a local creek that was right at 6' long that was around 70 but it wasn't quite as fat. They actually took it home and weighed before they cut it up to eat.

Maybe but i'm pretty sure it was a little bigger than that...the picture doesn't do it justice, it was taken off a cell phone..I had caught and weighed a couple out of that hole, that were around 40 to 50 lbs., and a 60 in. 33 lb. needlenose, so thats how I made my guess at the weight...I'll never know thought, jmho it was over 100...to be honest it doesn't really matter, it was fun either way...

what did you use for bait

big chunks of cut up drum and shad seem to work best but they will eat a whole bluegill in a pinch...
