I fished at riemers for 8 hours today. I did not get a single bite while everyone else seemed to be catching fish. I used roadrunners, sassy shad, spoons, a small several repala baits, a rattle trap, curly tailed grubs, and a bunch of crappie jigs. Am I missing something?

what was everyone else using? Maybe its the retrieve. Or they could have been using minnows, shad or crawfish wish are deadly on the whites! try letting it sink down deeper and working it off of bottom maybe.

You were not the only one not getting anything at Reimers I had the same problem same place same time same lures and was standing right next to someone who caught 10 decent keepers.Slow retreive and all the way on the bottom yellow to chatruse 1/8oz curly tail jig .Guess i was not holding my mouth right but thats why they call it fishing if they called it catching everyone would be doing it.

Seems like when the water's this cold, the suckers like to get right down on the bottom. You might check Fishingfool's technique in the "bank fishing around Austin" thread in the Bank Fishing section. If I was going to make the run to Reimer's I wouldn't fool around. I'd get some live minnows and fish on the bottom, with the sinker a foot or so above the hook.

Don't feel bad.Fished Reimer's 4p.m. till dark.Caught only 3keepers with about 10 throw-backs.Chartruese roadrunner with 3" chart.\silver-flake curly-tail and 1/8oz. pink-head-2" chart.\silver-flake c.-t. seemed to work best even with over-cast.I agree with shortstrike.Being your best bet is with minnows.I'm going to check-out Willis Creek and maybe even drive to Yegue Creek since I haven't heard of any (eyes on)info of the conditions or levels. The lake is still 249 feet though and really don't think it will be worth the extra drive until the Lake drops another 2'or 3feet.Might check out below dam.Never been there.TO:flapstick96, some of the fly-fisherman were out fishing me yesterday and friday at Reimer's. So don't give-up and keep practicing. And maybe some day you'll out-fish me.(Doubt It) Just Kidding!! (GFAFTA) FISHINGFOOL40

I did not have a curly tailed road runner, but only the feather ones. That seemed to make a difference. I tried those curly jigs with no results. I did fish slow and on the bottom, even carolina rigging those jigs. I also tried fishing tiny crappie jigs under a weighted bobber.
One thing, I was using green spiderwire with a 6 pound leader. Do yall think the spiderwire spooked them despite the 4 foot leader? Or mabey the sinker was spooking them? My ultralight broke the other day so I had to deal with my bait caster wihich was a pain in the but because I had to add a sinker just to cast out. I saw a bunch of frogs jumping around. Perhaps I will try to use them for bait next time.

I was the guy in the green bass hunter with my wife. We caught a few trolling a modified crank bait/pet spoon (too shallow for the hellbender), a few on a white curly tail jig and one on white roadunner. Probably could have caught more using river minnows, but the wife was not about to help with the seine! Oh, did the game warden catch anyone? He seemed to be working petty hard from what I could see.

Hey Bertha,
I fished with the family on the San Gabriel yesterday and No fish. I did not see anyone catch a thing. The water was very high so we did not attemp to cross so we were limited to where we were able to fish. What day this week do you want to go to Buchanan? Let me know.

Hey GMAN! I was suprised we didn't actually catch more at Reimer's yesterday. As I was coming in I spoke with a guy who caught 20 using a white roadrunner, but he said that the whites just shut down as I was getting there, figures! Oh, forgot to mention in my ealier post that the Alamo set looks petty cool as your driving down to the river at Reimer's, I should have brought my camera. GMan, as far as Buchanan goes, I'm reay! I'll let you pick the day since we are using you're boat. Give me a call this evening around 6. I'm starting to feel a little sick already hehehe Later

I fished Rheimers from 7:30 am until 12:00 pm yesterday. Caught 4 fish (2 keepers) all on a terminator in line spinner. It seems like the fish are holding closer to the bank opposite of Rheimers in fast moving water.

Well, I guess I may as well "come forward" and add to the confessional. I fished Lake Travis today from Camp Creek up to the shadow of Max Starke Dam, and didn't get a nibble. Despite the recent sun, the water was a cold 55. No birds anywhere. They were releasing lots of water, a good sign, as legend has it. Didn't help me any. There were several boats working Blue Hole. I heard one guy say he had caught 10 trolling, but they were small. A couple of guys were fishing live bait - I saw them catch one, and it was small. There was one guy fishing from the bank, below the dam, and he looked kind of glum. I probably added a little comic relief to his day when I couldn't get the motor started, leaving the dam, and got swept into the rocks. Serious current up there, when you leave the still water next to the dam. I went all the way down to the green bouy, below the ramp, and it was like the dead sea. It made me feel a little better when I talked with a regular, at the ramp, and he told me he hadn't done any good either.
