I am looking for an Eagle 640c head unit only. If yours is broken even better. I need a specific part from this unit. I have called Eagle and they do not part out their broken units so I would be stuck buying a new unit and I do not want to do that for a .25 cent part.

If you have a broken Eagle 640c I would be willing to give you a few bucks for it and pay the shipping. I similar unit like a Eagle 500c or 502c may work as well.

The part I need is the ribbon that connects the curcuit board to the display screen. It is called a FPC,Flexible Printed Circuit Board. I have been trying to contact the manufacture in Taiwan with no luck.

If you know where I can obtain this part maybe you can send me a note. I am thinking someone here on TFF has an idea. If you have an idea where I can get my hands on a broken head unit please shoot me a message.

Thanks, Dan

Check with Fry's or Radio Shack.. take the ribbon with you so you get the right connector and wire count.

Also you might try contacting www.BobRidgwayRepair.com
They sell and install marine electronics.. maybe they can help get that part?

There is also an electronics comonent store called Altex with 4 stores in San Antone that has Ribbon Cable and Connectors you can get to build a new cable assembly. If you take your ribbon cable assy there they can match it up for you.

Thanks for the ideas, I had not thought about a computer repair place. I will try them out.

If worse comes to worse you could probably gery rig it by soldering wires (last resort). Those ribbon cables generally just substitute having a bunch of wires running from points A,B,C to point D,E,F. Matching the gauge of the wires or going only slightly bigger should give you the best chances of this last resort method working.

(If you go this route obviously unplug everything from the power source first!)
