Spent yesterday afternoon on the N. Bosque. Computer reports on the lake stated it was at planned level. Wrong. Today's report is +2. That's more like it.
I was able to take my CC to the back side of Del Mar Ranch. Usually you can't get within miles of the place. The river is extremely muddy. I couldn't see a gold spinner three inches deep in bright sunlight. Lots of big timber floating on and just beneath the surface, but I've been fishing rivers for 50 years. Wait for a bass boat. Follow his wake. Those guys don't know anything but full throttle. They'll let you know where the big timber is.
I counted 13 whites between 3 1/2 or four dozen boats. All small males. All caught on ghost minnows.
As usual for this time of year, plenty of rude, unknowledgable boaters. The ramps and docks are a nightmare. One guy totally rearranged all the lockers in his boat (20 minutes) and then decided to respool one of his reels. I had a heart to heart talk with him about four feet from his nose. I don't think he likes me. Here's to him and the horse he rode in on.

Sounds like you had a good day on the lake! LOL! I can relate to what you are saying about the boat ramps manners. If you load up, move it and get out of the way for the other guys! Night time, turn your head lights off.If your rude to me when im loading I will take longer to get out of your way. So, when your at the boat ramp it's best for both parties to be kind to each other.

Made that trip on Tuesday to hit whites in Waco with buddy, told him with what I saw all the way down, river would be blown out for the most part.

We hit that park in woodway that has creek on eastside jsut past bridge. Found warm water, stained to cloudy and very active with bass cats and crappie in the evenings.

Find the warmest water in pockets and find active fish. We kept 15 .5 lb crappies or better, could of had 10 or so 2 lb cats and had lots of keeper buck bass, released of course.

Biggest problem Wed, was getting Minnows, Archie and all the bait shops towards Speegleville was out, we went to Melvins in the hood. had to wait the next day to 3pm before the bait truck got into town.

Also, if ya see the red eared turtles, that would be good indicator of warmer water, normally good areas to fish for active fish.

Here's to Melvin's. 35 or so years ago I lived in that 'hood, maybe 10 blocks away. Yezak caugh more catfish than the rest of us combined. I haven't been there in many years. I understand his daughters run the place now.
I may stick to crappie until the white run is over and the boat traffic subsides a bit. I've always caught more whites in the main lake than in the river anyway. And if memory serves me right--and it seldom does--crappie is a lot better on the table.

It's a shame some people can't load their stuff before hitting the ramp...then just drop off the boat and move their trailer making room for others. Some think the whole ramp (and lake) belong ONLY to them. Glad no body parts were removed during the discussion... ;-)
