If you want to try some new scenery, have you ever fished Colorado Bend State Park up above Lake Buchanan?

It has lots of bank access, and is in the prime area for the white bass run above the lake. Nice drive up there also before Easter with all the bluebonetts and other wildflowers along the way.

Also like Redshad recommended in another post is try just below Inks lake dam. There is foot access and the fishing is great for bank fishermen.

I'll have to check those out. I have more time on my hands now so plan to get out and explore more before the heat kicks in. The weather is so perfect right now, it is hard to stay inside.

C-Bend SP is nice is the water is up, plus when the fishing slows there are some cool places in the park the waterfalls are cool side hike and the trail downriver from the boat ramp goes by some crystal clear "swimming pools".

Since I am just as guilty of hijacking this thread, here is some information if someone is considering making the trek up to C-bend SP anytime soon!

Im having a hell of a time catching whites up there in the rapid area. I tryed cranks grubs rattle traps everything. But guys next to me had live bait and were killing them. If you see me up there im in the ugly 16ft 71 stick stear with the kicker on it. The kicker is for break down that happen alot like last weekend had water in the fuel from sitting out all winter oops. Anyways let me know what some good lures are up there and say hi if you c me.

If you can catch river minnows you are going to outfish the store bought variety 10 to 1.

Don't know why it is but I used to seine minnows right out of the river, and outfish everyone around me using store bought minnows.

Been doing that for years and since I was a kid, so it's just not my imagination!

Me and Hendo fished from the rapids downstream this AM and only picked up a few small ones. Decided to troll later and that didn't help. Saw some guys fishing with minnows but didn't see any record numbers getting caught. Only bright spot was I outfished him. Wondering if I've got bad luck, bad timing or if the run has really gotten fired up yet. This is a fishing forum and I've known fishermen to exaggerate.

Hey partime, I'm going to be up there a few days next week and I'm going to fish the pier at Ft. Sam at night. Let me know how the fishing is for the crappie and whites under the lights.

Thanks, Jimbo

fished this morning from 6-10.Put 2 limits in the boat and no there is no exageration here! All you have to do is slowdown your retrieve to follow the current. If your not hitting bottom you wont catch them! Try fishing at night also,You might lose a little sleep but the stripers and whites will make up for it.Good luck

I caught almost all of my limit the other day on a 1/16th oz lead head jig...plain lead....and kalins chartreuse shad curly tail. It's black top, green belly, chartruese tail. Crappie and whites hammer that color in the guad. Been that way for two years now.

I think the bigger females are still at the mouth. All I caught and saw caught today were small fish from Rebecca Creek to the rapids. I did catch an 18" striper however, but after the wind blew in, that was about it.

I'm headed back to the mouth tomorrow if the wind ain't too bad.
