no problems with focusing for me, i fish during the week when i have time, and there are only a few tournaments during the year that u have to worry about...so as far as good clubs to join, tis is a good one since there are no "required practice" and b.s. like that...also, to get on the team all u have to do is sign up and pay ur dues.....

Its easy to be a part of the Tech team. All you have to do is have a boat or have a partner who has a boat. If you have any specific questions you can pm me.

It depends alot on your degree IMO, less intense degrees allow for more fishing time. Im on the Tarleton team but I will be the first to admit on here that my fishing def suffers because of my degree. Of course if I had it my way I would fish everyday. But since my parents are paying for school I owe it to them to get my degree while im here.

Oh and this website will hurt your school more than anything... it is way easier to sit on here than study for class!

I would look and see the quality of anglers each school has and what degree you want and what employers think of that degree. When I was at Baylor I worked, fished and was in the business school. It wasn't easy. Unless you can wing the tournament (I can't) your are going to have to go practice to even hang in there. Practice = lots of money and time. Also you need to look at the where you want your fishing to go. For example if you went to Texas A&M they have 30 plus guys and some of them are real good. So you are going to have to beat those guys out to even to get a shot to go to any of the big championships. Those tournaments are where you can make a name for yourself and help you in the future. So it all really depends on what school is the best fit for you. Do your research on each school.

My opinion is that it would be alot easier to do homework and fish then do a 9-5 and fish take advantage of all of it while you can.

I dont know if it was mentioned above, but as a college angler, my only recomendation is to go to the college that is best for your major and future career. It is very easy to start a college fishing club if where you go doesnt offer one.

A&M has one of the biggest bass fishing teams in the country and we are really competitive. It makes for a better tournament when we are actually competing against 15-20 other boats!

If you go to school as bad as UNT, I completley disagree with the above statement!! However most seem pretty simple, lots of good schools out there pertaining to majors, not going to lie, an established fishing team would have to be there if I were doing it over!

I agree that a established team is nice. But in the whole aspect of things, your education is the most important thing. Very few of us will ever make it as proffesional anglers. I just enjoy the guys i met fishing college stuff, like brandon. If you have narrowed your choice down to two schools, and one has a good fishing team and one doesn't, than that is one thing. But dont go to A&M without looking at you options and how stong they are in your specific degree field, then thats antoher.

ok and lets make this clear, to "be on the team" is more or less a given, you are basically in a club. It is beating all the other guys and getting qualified to go to like the flw tourneys that is hard. Each team is a little different. Some schools don't hardly have any guys others are packed.

as for balanceing school and fishing it is a matter of what you expect from both... if you are just looking for a daploma then NOT hard at all, if you are looking to get in to grad school and need all A's then you won't be able to fish as much. i make almost straight A's and i am surprised at how much I get to fish
The think i do is plan my classes so I don't have class on friday, gives me more time for trips.

Each school is different If you have several guys who are interested in starting a team then it isn't that hard, at least it wansn't at angelo, lots of i's to dot and t's to cross, the devil is in the details. The biggest issue is probably getting guys who are willing to spend the time getting it set up

Brandon that sucks that it was hard at UNT I figured it would be easier at a big school.
