Good afternoon, Steve....I just responded on the other thread, regarding the Pet Spoon. A quick repeat...I located a spoon that appears to be very close to the Pet Spoon? It is a Hopkins, #238, silver hammered spoon w/single hook mounter underneath via a screw and has a yellow feather. I wonder which company made this dude first? My nephew and I fished Barren River Thursday and came home with 12 hybrids. The largest was only 4 1/2 lbs, however. Most of these fish came on a Mann's Man-o-lure jigging spoon. I must honestly say that we only caught 4 fish. We came upon a lake guide that divulged a plethora of information and tips. One of the friendliest and helpful guys I have ran across. As we were talking to him he showed how he jigged the spoon, ensuring it falls on a slack line and caught two hybrids in 15 minutes! My nephew mentioned that he would sure like to catch a mess for a church fish fry and JD asked to pass him our landing net and filled it with hybrids! He even gave us a couple of locally made spoons that are his favorites! Unbelievable! I have always shared my good fortune on the waters, not to brag, but I know how difficult it is to catch fish at times and fishermen have given me advice in the past when I was down on my luck and I get a "feelgood" feeling down deep inside when I can steer others on to fish. Let me know what you think about the Hopkins "238" series spoon, Steve and all you other outstanding fishermen out there!...have a good day on the water..../MikeW)

Yes, you caught me. I am a lurker and have been checking this site for some time. It has some of the best timely information on the local lakes. About 5 year ago I was using the HellPet combo and sometimes we would use a 3 way swivel and fish 2 Pet spoons. Great way to catch lots of fish. About two years ago I have started fly fishing, and only since used the conventional rod a few times. I may go to RC tomorrow in my yellow Ride kayak and troll the HellPet. If you see me give me a wave.

Steve, I've been registered for over a year, but have only posted a few times.I lurk round the catfishin site mostly but have an intrest in that ole salty water also and can always get current reports.I like reading reports and info about places I'm familiar with(stuff I can use). Muskie, walleye an salmon info is wasted on this punch bait fan.

I'd like to know where everybody heard about this forum. I saw the link in the Dallas Morning News outdoors area. My fishing life has not been the same since. It has re-energized my love of the sport and almost wiped out my 20 year marriage. Something about not being able to put her car in the garage cuz of the buckets and bait tanks and sacks of range cubes and....well, ya'll get the idea.

Went to RC this am and fished the Hell/Pet for a short time from the Kayak. Did not hook up are see any schooling. I fished the south side with the wind blowing from the south about a mile or so from the dam.
Maybe, next time.

Lurker Alert.. Lurker Alert..

I have been readign this board since a co-worker turned me on to ti about 2 months ago. I purchased my first boat (Skeeter ZX22Bay) and have been fishing on Ray Roberts mostly. Today I tried the hellpet combo and slabbing on LLewisville. Only got to trol for about 10 min since I put out with only a little gas. First fish on in less then 2 minutes.. Wow.

I will follow and try to post more on the local topics. I like the information this board provides, local lake knowledge is priceless.

Thanks for a great board.

Ok, another lurker takes the bait. Been lurking for about a year and must say this is a favorite site. Used info from this forum to catch crappie on Lake Fork in January. Monitor Lake Palestine comments since I fish there several times each year. Now focused on Lake Buchcanan striper and finding good info here.

Went this weekend for first attempt and caught one. At 23 inches it was a nice fish and a good start. Tried the hell/pet but wasn't rigged right, strike came on a small live perch. The picture of the hell/pet rig that was posted showed what I had done wrong, no weight. Looking forward to next time.

Appreciate all of the good info.

I hate to be labeled a lurker. I've been reading the forum for a couple of months now and have just been able to register in the last few days because the forum was not accepting new registrations. I find the forum very interesting and helpful and hope to have much to post about in the future.

Hello All, I am now a former lurker who checks this forum everyday. I have been reading posts for a few months now, thanks for the "kick in the pants" invitation to register! My boat has been primarily on Texoma since March, although I have dragged it to Lewisville, Grapevine, and Whitney this summer. Thanks for the great forum.

Hey, DBD. I am living proof that the Greenhorn label will disappear. I am now a full fledged outdoorsman! Only took a couple of weeks, however, it helps to have a gift of gab (my wife says WINDBAG), but then, what does she know? There is no telling what I will grad-u-ate to in two more weeks!

Ok you got me too. I read this site religously also. Usually fish Roberts,Lewisville, Tawakoni, Fork, and a few other local DFW lakes. If you see a Blue Cajun Fish/ski out on the water come on over and say hello.
