My old transom saver is worn out. I'm thinking about one of these. I have a 225 Opti on a jack plate. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The Lock-n-Haul is the only 4-point inline load distributing motor stow on the market. It will completely stop all movement of your motor and is extremely lightweight and easy to use. It will adjust to fit the majority of outboard brands and horsepowers. I use mine on a Mercury 250ProXS and love it. Starting this year, Skeeter is including a Lock-n-Haul with every new boat. Lock and haul takes no weight off the transom, sure they got a good sales pitch, but no better than using your factory trailering bracket.

Neither does a traditional transom saver.

Uh huh, about 5 pounds. After that the tubing will crumble.

Yep. My motor weighs 505#. To think a piece of 1" square mild steel tubing held together with a couple of pens and a bungee cord is actually taking any weight of the transom is a little naive. If your transom cannot support it, I sure would not trust it to a wimpy transom saver.

Yeah, I had some transom bolts break and I tried my best using 1 1/2 inch rope to tie the top of the motor and pull it forward, hoping to take some of the stress off the transom saver. The boat made it about 200 yards before I saw the motor moving. The toter had been killed.

Its just a piece of common stock soft aluminum. Its made to keep the motor from the ups and downs but not for strength.

So you think your locknhaul would have done any better? with broken transom bolts?... please..., just use the trailering bracket that came with the motor.

What Lock-n-Haul does is completely stop all movement of the outboard. That movement is what causes stress on the transom and other parts of the motor. Since it is not attached to the trailer and has the motor locked in place, you won't have road shock transferred to the lower unit. It is made of aircraft aluminum and to my knowledge there have been no instances of one breaking. The adjusting bolts are non-load bearing and are only used to adjust the fit to different motors. I first became of aware of Lock-n-Haul on this forum when I was looking for a different motor toter. When I tried it, I was sold. A lot of other guys have been also.

I had a Swivl-Eze Lock-n-Stow for three years and it broke last weekend. I don't know if it was from stress or from someone (kids) raising the motor a bit and the shock from towing broke it.

I have a lock-n-haul and love it. I own a Skeeter Bay with a yamaha 225 hpdi motor and no problems so far. Like mentioned above it's used to take the weight and road shock (stress) off your motor. Just my 2 cents.

I use the Lock-n-Haul on my yamaha vmax 225 and travel some pretty rough roads. I can tell you its easy to use and stops all movement.

do your lower unit and your trailer a favor and spend that 60 bucks. the lock and haul doesnt try to crush a 3 foot bar between the lower unit and the trailer while rubbing the paint off the lower unit, plus it securly stabilizes the engine from moving up,down, left or right juggle
