I think it is just impossible to even think that there is a possiblitility the Federal Government would ban recreational fishing... this has to be a JOKE... even Obama and the Democrats are this stupid!!! Are they???? Tell me this is not a real story....

If Obama's not the AntiChrist, I can't imagine a better one. He is everything that is bad about this counttry, and seems to be trying to do everything possible to strip us of our rights as Americans. No way this will happen... I am not worried one bit... 60 million anglers in the US with one of the fastest growing participation rates of any other recreational sport..... and it provides about $82 billion each year to the economy.

Everyone- it can happen if we do not act. I just sent emails to my 2 Fed senators and rep. The link in the original post is easy to use to find your reps and email them. I urge each of you to do the same. Please also post here that your emails have been sent to keep this topic at the top.

In a few short months, most Dems will be voted out of Congress, if they don't choose to retire from their seat. The president will not be able to get a thing through congress at that point. Obama is the wake-up call this country needed, so that the "silent majority" could finally find their voice, and USE IT!

The ESPN article says the ban would be via presidential executive order, so congress could not block it. Our Senators and Representatives can use their influence to block any such ban, but only if we loudly let them know how strongly opposed we are.

Just another BS article about something that nobody is even hinting at doing.

Recreational fishing will never see a ban, and that's because Obama has time and time again, championed it and stated quite clearly that it is a vital industry that must be preserved.

if anything, regulations will go into effect that limit commercial fishing and expand recreational fishing.

I agree that this wont happen... but chill out... this article is ALL over the place.. I was going to post it up as well... considering it pertains to us rec fisherman whether it is accurate or not, it belongs on the forum...

Nobody in the administration is talking about banning recreational fishing.

This reminds me of those people who were screaming about "the end of America" when Bush passed the patriot act.

The discussion needs to be had, but everybody needs to grow up a bit and quit with the fear mongering and outright fabrications.

I think ESPN has some explaining to do, and i sure hope that the Obama Administration send one of their guys down there to set them straight.

This is about protecting fishing for all of us, especially the sportsmen.
