what times are they biting best? I found last week they didn't bite mid-day, but saw stringers pulled out as I was going in and then reports here of the evening bite was good. so anytime except when I was there? laugh

Any day on the water is a good day, catching fish is just a bonus

Has anybody ever tried riding a bicycle from hw 377 to henrietta hole? or have any thoughts including laughter at such an idea?

Started out with nothing and still have most of it left.

For the rich there is therapy; for the rest of us there is fishing.

I walked in Thursday. Down the power lines would be OK and actually better to keep feet dry through puddles. However, there is no worn trail I could find between lines and picking up trail again 1/4 mile from the hole. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, I found hugging the new fence/gas well around was the best. That would not be rideable.

The only hope I see at all for making walk shorter is parking in that new neighborhood on the end, they have a paved walking trail that goes back behind. It only cuts about half and I think your car would be highly suspicious to the neighborhood parked there.

I meant to say already and y'all can laugh at me, but be VERY careful on those steep wet banks. A couple years ago I slid down the bank at Cade Branch and went all the way in. I was a college swimmer and still do triathlons, but a little tricky getting back out. Water was cold as heck and over my head, so I was treading as I worked up the bank to a place I could pull myself out. If bank is steep, wet, nothing to hold onto, and you are treading water then you won't be getting out there. Ok, laugh at me now. smile

We were one of those big bass boats in there on Sunday. I feel really bad when I pass the guys on the bank and the yaks on plane in such a big boat. I just cannot take to many chances on coming out of the hole. That boat digs really deep and the less I have to take off in that creek the better. I was bass fishing and thought I may be able to find some small bass in Henreitta Creek and I could not, even though I had caught one on Thursday afternoon in there. That is a run from Katies Woods to the hole in the rain and cold frown We did have problems with the sandies biting almost everything we threw early that morning smile They sure did like my Booyah spinner bait and my partners red eye shad. Main creek was up to 51 degrees and Henrietta was 54.5 degrees. I am taking a buddy tomorrow and I hope they will bite after the heavy rain today. Look out for floaters.

Wow, you run up there on plane with the big motor?

In space, nobody can hear you scream for ice cream.

Yes I do and only because I know the creek really well. I have been fishing the run there since the mid 90's and I have seen the creek when I would have to pull my old Lone Star thru all the shallows to get to Henrietta. They would run as long as it was not cut off, so I would also. I again cannot say enough that I in no way recommend this to someone new to the creek. The last old bridge has a pile of concrete just under the surface right now waiting to take out someone's transom. Also if it drops much more the old dam will get someone. It it only about 4 feet under the surface right now. That one will wake you up if you hit it. I first hit it back in the 90's with my Lone Star and I was just barely on plane and it knocked my calum off my motor and I turned around and barely grabbed it as it was sinking in the water. The next year I saw that thing and you could get out of the boat and walk up and down the top of it. It has one small section that looks like someone took dynamite to it years ago and blasted a hole in the top so they could get there boat thru. It was just big enough for my little Lone Star to go thru. I have even seen people sink boats up there in the current in years past. One was a brand new little 12 foot rig with a mecury that looked like he just left Academy with it. He lost everything. I pulled it out for him.

Actually if Jacky's boat is like most it makes less wake when on plane as opposed to just sub-plane.

My brother was up the river today. The hole was boiling with all the water flowing out of Denton Creek. They nailed a floater hard enough to lift the motor out of the water. They caught no fish. I would wait a while until the water slows.
