I have never seen or used those. Usually throw a road runner. Where can you find those?

KG, I will try to help you out with what I know. Stopped and talked to TPWD while they were picking up jugs for a bluecat study on the Colorado. We were catfishing so my customer had no interest in the trek all the way upriver to the bend. When you first come out of Buchanan you will need a shallow running boat, it is only 1' deep over the sand bar at the flats of the mouth of the river. We trimmed up and ran about 20 mph in my 20 footer. If you try to go slow you will just bog down in the current and mud.

Water clarity about 3 miles up from the falls is zero. Average depth is about 5'. The falls are beautiful and only allow about a 10' wide channel to get into where they hit the water below.

They are still catching messes of whites around Garrett Island, some females with bloody eggs and some undeveloped. I cpr'd a limit in 35' water on Saturday around Garrett jigging Chartruese and white spoons, some suspended and some on bottom.

It should be a crazy towards the end of the week around the bend with water temperatures climbing and water clarity easing up. In the last week and a half I have fished or scouted the Frio, Nueces, San Gabriel at Granger, San Gabriel at Georgetown, and Colorado just up from Buchanan all by the 20'boat and have never been happier than this year with the water levels. The only real good catching we have done this week is on the Nueces with both male and females. The next two weeks should be on like donkey kong when males and females move in most of these spots.

Thanks for the post Ray. Not sure I want to try that with my 24' pontoon. I don't run that river enough to be real familiar with the channels. The water temps are still cold here and this dang cloudy weather ain't doing much to help out. Forecasts are looking better later this week. Thanks again. Kent.

I have a 16' flat bottom boat with a 25 hp outboard I plan on doing some fishing at CBSP should I try putting in at CBSP ramp or becuase of the water level should I try putting in at Tow and making the trip up river. Is it a really rough trip. I have no depth finder. Is there a lot of logs in the water? The post above sounds like it might turn out to be a bad day if we try to make that trip. Any info would help. I think I might be ably to get in and out at CBSP. Any one see any boats to this size at the ramp?

basscat26 If you have a tilt trailer or lots of cable or strap on your trailer they said you have about six foot of ramp in the water so you should be able to get in and out at CBSP with that boat.

Storm just passed us and dumped another 9 tenth's on our soaked ground here in Mills county so look for some more muddy water at Bend in a few days.

This weekend there were alot of people putting in at CBSP boat ramp. You should not have to much trouble, but you might have to use a little manpower to get you boat back on the trailer.

You can order lit'l fishies from Bass Pro, they are made by Creme.

We will be going back out in two more weeks, so keep the reports coming in...

It will be muddy by morning I bet. Hopefully it will clear a little by the time I go Thursday.

Just got back Sunday night. The weather ended our camping trip early. However, while we were there, we did catch a bunch of fish. The females were hard to find ( about 1 in every 10 fish caught was female). It would seem the peak of the spawn will be hitting right about in the middle of Spring Break. It will be PACKED! Claim your spot in the river early!
