I was wondering what rod would be best for this application? For around $100.

one of the skeet reece or vendeta rods... GO feel them and see which one you think

Get a spinning combo I was using just a won't rod and now I use the spinning combo just for that reason and I love it. If ur set on a baitcaster I would go with a high speed reel to pick up the slack quick and and light to medium fast action rod academy has quantum burners on sell for 40 buks rite now and the American rodsmith rods with split grip handles are 50 .

The Berkley Cherrywood series is much less than $100 and is very nice for drop shotting. While you can drop shot and shakey head with the same rod I feel like they are two very different actions.

Just use a medium action rod that you already own.

you should spend the money and go with a high quality rod for these applications. Loomis makes awesome drop shot and shakey head rods and I am sure there are other vendors. Feel is so important with these techniques I don't think you want to go cheap, but that is my opinion. And i am not sponsored by anyone to promote their product.

I prefer a 7 to 7.5 foot medium spinning for drop shotting. I have found that it casts smoother with a drop shot rig.

Falcon's LFC-4 works good for me. Under 100 bucks at Academy during their rod-riot.
