I have a Dodge 3/4 ton. Thinking about a ladder rack. Seems less expensive than a store bought yak rack and leaves the bed open for gear.

Any suggestions?

Although there are some yakkers on this part of the forum, you might get a better response to your question in the kayak section. I hope you get some good ideas.

throw the yaks in your truck bed and get a bed extender. I do fine that way. No need for a truck bed full of gear.

Harbor Freight! Thanks Dave! I've been vexed with same problem. Knew there had to be an economical solution. Your bed length standard long bed? I'll need to fit to Ford Sport-trac. Very short bed.

Dave...it was windy, choppy and cold, but the warm water was very cool. Got skunked, but learned a lot. Can't wait to go back.

I like the bed extender. Will check out harbor freight until I get a trailer or affordable overhead.

When I had the bed extender, I had a middle piece fabricated so I can open and close the tailgate and have access to icechests, gear, etc.

Just like 4x4forever said, I too got tired of loading, unloading, check lists, etc. Now I just hitch and go. Everything is in one place and when I get home from the coast, I just spray everything down at once, unhitch and go inside.
