 what are the carp/buff doing this time of year?

I know in a few weeks i'll start seeing these guys thrashing about up in the shallows, but what are they doing now?
shallow, or deep? schooled up?

I have been catching them in 30 to 40 feet of water
PB Common = 36-8
PB Buffalo = 62-8
PB Mirror (fully scaled) 13-0
PB Flat Head Catfish = 44

Avoiding my hook..  They should start feeding up to prepare for the spawn. I have already caught one in about 3 foot of water in a pond. Good times, they are a comin.

I'd say the warmer weather this week has probably started getting the carp into pre-spawn mode. So they should be moving into shallower water and looking to eat, eat, eat.

The fish are rapidly swimming away from where I get to fish. Look for them at least ten to twenty miles from any particular spot I will be fishing.
