The park is about 30 miles from Zapata. There is a new gas station about half way between the park and zapata. The only restaurants are in town.

No restaurants very remote at that end of the lake. You are on your own, the Rec Hall inside the State Park is open this time of the year and the Park Host runs it, usually serves burgers with limited hours. Closest town is Roma 12 miles south on Hwy 83, closer than Zapata which is 30 miles north from the State Park. There is one gas station on Hwy 83, has been there for years around 6 miles north toward Zapata. The shelters in the State Park are remote and primitive be sure you bring your linens and bed mattress.

Just got back from a week there. Had a great time. It's 30 miles to Zapata but has a nice ramp there. We had to use a heater a couple of nights but it's really warming up. Met a couple of pretty good guys and swapped fish stories each night.

it's much more important than that!
