Boy are the fish biting. I was out at Yegua on the sand point toward the dam last sunday and between six of us we fished all day and probably caught 4 - 5 hundred fish. We only kept 78 but the ones we caught were all keepers. We had a good solid stringer. We were fishing with a carolina type rig and used pencil/ghost minnows. At one time we had soo many fish we had fish hitting us on the legs as they were feeding. Some of the better action I have had in several years. On Monday we used the boat and went to the area of Welch park to stay out of the wind from the north. Started somewhat slow but they turned on. We had three GOOD fisherman in the boat and four novice. It was abig pontoon boat but it was NOT pretty. We used both live and artificial and did real good as the afternoon progressed. Over next to the unbderwater island the birds started working and we picked up a good number of larger whites. When it was all said and done we had 68 in the chest. If the b oat conditions would have been better we could have worked the birds more. We did have two hybrid hookups but ened up with brocekn lines. We were kinda under staffed as far as line. Hybrid action has been picking up on that end of the lake from what I have heard.

There were so many boats working the dam today that I went up into the creek! When it's on it is really on! Click here to see My Photo Archive

What is this cold snap gonna do to these fish? Will it have any affect on them, or will it just not bother them at all. I heard that its going to be in the 80's tommorrow, then this front will knock us in the low to mid 60's for the rest of the week? Just wondering, any advice is appriciated as always
BTW is the rain gonna help any, or are we not going to get enough to really affect anything
Thanks, Chris

Average air temp is still warmer then the water so it will probably do little if anything at all. I think the upper lake is slowing down and the lower lake is really picking up good. Hybrids off Welch park are on the schedule next.

has anyone been out since the rain, did it muddy the lake any? if it did that might shut the whites down for a while.

Welch Park is right by the dam. You pass the entrance to it as you go up on the dam from 36 in Sommerville.
