Had a 2000 175 doing the same thing, turned out to be the harness connection to the ECU. Disconnect the battery, clean all and open the male pins with an ice pick or test light, clean all with electric contact cleaner, apply vasoline to pins and reconnect. The ECU has to get 12v to fire the injectors. Just be shure your getting fuel pressure from the electric pump. Good Luck

OK something happened today while tracing down and cleaning grounds. Also cleaned male pins in wiring harness. After this it would still not fire. However once again we took out 3 plugs and squirted a litle stater fluid and tryed to crank again. This time it would fire and run for a few seconds. The odd thing is now it will continue to fire and run for a second or 2 but will not stay runnung . So now every time I crank the motor it will fire and turn over then. die. This is further than it would go before and continues this now with no gass manually injected into it.
Also some times when it fires it is reving up real high then dies after a couple of seconds.
I need your thaughts on this guys. Thanks for your help.

DANGER! Do`nt spray anything except mixed fuel-oil into this motor. I know it is a ways but I have a 2000 175 EFI at Lake Alan Henry we could try the ECU on your motor to check. You would need to bring your boat. I am going Friday.

Thanks Gary,I only did it the one time. Hope I didint mess it up worse.
I am headed to Lake Travis for Basschamps on Friday. I am going to try to find someone closer to home with an ECU to match and check it out in the next few days. In the mean time I will be begging my buddys to take me fishing.

Thats an older analog. Won't work.
Do you know for sure that tha pluse and electric pumps are both making pressure?

You think it might be going into gardian mode? Reason I ask, I had one that would crank, then fire each cylinder one time, then die. After removing the battery for a week, the engine started and ran fine. Just a thought

I know there is good pressure through the fuel pump.

Mike,
Are thinking maybe disconnect the battery for a couple of days??? I will try anything once.

That's what I'm talking about. It might not be scientific or have anything to do with anything, but it worked for me. It could have been just a fluke, who knows, but what the heck.......
