Ray Roberts 2002(I think) Jordan Park. Good fishing in morning for about 2 hours when a blue northern rolled in. It was a mad dash of about 40 boats to the ramp. Rather than try to wait our turn to trailer we just beached the "tuna tub" and waited it out in the truck. As we sat through the storm we watched as 3-4' rollers pounded big bass boats and the guys who decided to weather out the storm.
The scariest moment though was watch a 12' jon cap size and throw two guys in the water. Luckily they had their PFDs on and made it back to shore.
This storm left as fast as it blew in, and after bucketing out the water in our boat, which was basically swamped, we went out and wore out the largemouth on the big grass bed on the north side of wolf island. I was there that day. There were boaters beaching their boats in grass, brush and in between trees, including me, to get out of the storm. Waited about 30 minutes and loaded up as the storm was ending. I was soaking wet even in rain gear. Speared two huge waves on the way back in. Myself and my dog were freaking a little due to the fact I was in a 17 ft. Nitro. Worst storm I had ever been in while on a lake. You are right, it blew out as quick as it blew in. Saw the same thing happen a few years later and headed in sooner. Got the boat loaded and was wiping it down when a bolt of lightning hit the parking lot not more than 100 yards away. Lets just say the boat didn't get completely wiped down after that trip. Oh and by the way, it was virtually a cloud free lightning strike in front of the storm.

I was fishing a working man tourney on EM last year when we had a near miss with another boat. It was a shotgun start and we had a pretty good jump. We were heading South at about 60 MPH when this boat running even with us decided to cut across the water diagonally just missing the front of the boat. I remember my partner (who was driving) yell something out and let off the gas right as he cut us off. It was close enough that the prop wash from his motor soaked us. I reported it to the tourney director but there wasn't much he could do. I didn't have a description of the boat and my buddy couldn't identify it. I was pretty calm about the whole deal when I talked to the director because I know without an accurate description there's not much he could do. Wasn't his fault. But my buddy was a little worked up. Anyway, if you were the idiot in the boat that evening, you have no business on the water.

Mmmm, Was fishing in the San Gabriel river with my brother, in a jon boat with only paddles, and the river rising from heavy rains up stream. We head the boat toward the bank to check the lines where some tall grass is. As soon as the boat hits the bank, about a 4' cotton mouth jumps into the boat at the same time. The 2 of us exploded out the front of the boat and it was down with the current. Had to use the paddles and a stick to finally catch the boat and kill the snake. Could of been worse. The snake was about as scared as we were.

15ish years ago my brother, my dad and I were crappie fishing at night out of a john boat at the IDB bridge on 922. My dad decided he needed to pee so he tried to turn around and pee out of the back of the boat. Well he knocked the lantern over in the process and he and my brother both tried to catch it. Boat started leaning over and went too far. We all went in the lake. Luckily there were a couple other guys there tied up next to us who helped us out. I ended up swimming to the bank.
2 years ago I was running back to the Sanger ramp on Ray Roberts right at dusk at about 60mph. Apparently a BIG boat had been running around out there too as I found his wake. We got majorly airborne.
Last year I was coming out of Indian headed south. I was running about 70 when I got out of the trees. Somebody in a Skeeter decided to put his boat on plane and cut across right in front of me. No way he didn't hear me coming before he put it on plane.
I almost hit the Buck Creek Bridge once. Mis-judged my turn.

Last year my dad and I got caught in a storm on Bob Sandlin and went to tie up under the bridge. I threw a rope over one of the girders to tie off to and as my dad went to grab the rope a 3 foot wave threw the boat out from under the rope so he was dangling from a rope under the bridge without the boat under him. Very scary I told him don't grab the rope yet I need to turn around!!! I almost died of a heart attack because he almost fell into the prop. I was able to throw in in reverse quick enough though.
I also had a wave come over the back of my boat one night real late at Grapevine while waiting at the twin coves RV ramp. Some jerk was on the ramp and wouldn't get out of the way. The wind had kicked up to about 40mph and water came over my engine and darn near sank us. Very scary!

I guess I will include my random moment of stupidity to this thread. My wife decided to rent a boat out of Port O'Conner for a couple of days. I can promise you I know very little about salt water, bay or blue. We piddled in the bay for the first morning with no luck. Went back to the dock and was told to go out Caballo Pass to the surf and float croakers around for trout. Had a great time lots of fish. Next morning the wind was up a bit and we headed back out thru the pass. Current was pretty strong and the surf was pretty rough also. Got into the third cut, achored out and got ready to fish. There was no way the anchor was going to hold and by the time I got the motor started we were in the first cut and the waves were crashing into the boat. The bait chest turned over and the bait was plugging the drain holes, we were getting heavy really fast. Finally got the boat on plane about 20' from the beach and got her turned out back over the sand bar. Grabbed my son told him to stay on quarter to the waves and I hit the deck chunking bait over trying to clear the drain holes. All the bait overboard and the boat above water we headed back to the pass. I guess the tide was coming out and the with the surf the way it was the pass was like a washing machine. When we got back into the bay and some calmer water I was puking in the back of the boat. I don't know it the wife ever knew just how bad it could hsve been.

I was fishing on cedar creek several years ago and it was a over cast day not a lot of wind just a good day catching fish like mad I knew a front was coming but didn't look like it would get there for several hrs . and as I said it was overcast the only thing I can fig is the storm came in over the overcast layer . I heard a clap of thunder and thought oh $#@! I packed everything away put the life jacket on and head for the ramp ( 1970s tide craft with 140 evinrude) and every thing was going good so I decided to go the the ramp that I launched from ( my bad ) I was shooting across the middle of the lake . all I can fig was that a down burst hit right in front of me all I could see was water above me I hit the wave and went through it not over it when I came out every thing in the boat blew out ripped the doors off the lockers seats were gone and the boat was about 1 inch below the water . I rode out the storm holding on to the the boat . After it passed a resident seen what happened and came out and hooked on to my boat and towed me in.
I think someone was watching over me that day

Did not happen to me but one the craziest things I have ever seen happened at Aransas Pass on the island. My brother and I and our wives were doing some jetty fishing and then decideded to take the afternoon off for a picnic. We were about 200 yards from a family that decided it was time to pack it in and go back to the mainland. The whole family got into their boat and headed out into approximately 3' to 4' rollers. The boat capsized, everyone went in and then made it back to shore. We ran down to make sure everyone was okay, they were but here is the crazy - stupid part. Five people and one 4 to 6 month old baby in a 16' foot home made boat with a 10HP engine. After the family left the boat floated back to shore and so help me the bow and been built with a large hole in it. I guess the builder could not figure out how to close up the curve. You just cannot fix stupid.

I went with a buddy to Arkansas to float the Buffalo in his canoe. Our trip was going really well until we came across a tree that had fallen across the river and had the river blocked to were the canoe couldnt go under it. There was a very small opening that from a distance looked like we could go through. Anyways we hit the tree and lost balance and flipped the canoe. We lost a few things, camera, misc. stuff. But I also lost my glasses, so I was in Arkansas with no way of seeing. It was an absolute nightmare not being able to see the rest of the trip.
