I was looking at a TeamDaiwa 7'6" flipping/pitch rod that telescoped down into the handle at Cabelas in Buda. It was in the bargin barn but checked out OK. I want to know if they proform without twisting when setting the hook hard.

As long as you pull them into the set position firmly they should not twist on you. I have had a few telescoping rods over the years and never had a problem with any of them.

Some folks say that fishin on a Sunday is a sin, but if a fish bites my line, you know I'm gonna reel him on in!

I dont use the Daiwa rods anymore, but I used to have 3 of the telescopic flippin sticks. Never had a problem with them twisting. In fact, I've never had a problem with any of my telescopic rods twisting, regardless of brand.

I was skeptical about a telescoping rod but I’ve had my two for flippin and pitchin and never had a problem.

I have used telescoping rods for over 10 years. They work GREAT, IF:

1. You do not try to lift a 5# fish aboard with the rod;

2. Lift a 7# fish aboard with the rod;

3. Lift an 8# fish aboard with the rod;

You get the idea. If you don't try to set the hook like a FREIGHT TRAIN on braid and DO NOT LIFT THE FISH aboard with the rod, mine have worked GREAT!

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I have never had a issue with telescoping rods. Certainly makes them easier to transport as all the ones I have used are 7'6" in length. The only concern I had was that the first guide has to be put further up the rod than normal so the rod will telescope but I haven't seen any performance issue with this.

I don't really care for them myself. I like a solid rod. I usually don't go over 7' anyway. I had a 7'6" that telescoped and I didn't care for it.
