Was wondering if I should make the drive down to Fork this weekend. Had a buddy fish there this past weekend and didn't have too good of a report. But if you read some of the fishing reports from the ets site, they say they are catching some fish. I'm sure the guides put a positive twist to their reports to help them and their sponsors get some business. Just can't decide to go there or stay close to home and pre-fish for a tournament the following weekend. Has anyone been there lately that can tell me if I should drive down for the day or just stay home and look to go down in another week or two???

Bass-Coach You'd be better off fishing Texoma for Smallies and Spots that bite better in cold water. Unless you can fish super slow all day for 3 quality bites. Fork is going to fish Very Small for a couple more weeks. Areas with warmer water and active fish will be few and far between. Good Luck where ever you go!

There is some fish being caught, but few. The problem is the water temps. We get some days with semi warm temps and sun and the fish start to react but the nights are staying in the 30's. The water temps can't get into the 50's where they need to be. I know there are fish shallow thinking about the spawn but they can't get active with these temps. Plus, we just had close to an inch of cold rain so the upper end is muddy again.

We were on fork this past weekend. Water temps in the low 40's early in the morning and high 40's to 50ish late in the afternoon. We didn't get bit until the afternoon... It's very slow but with the warming trend hopefully it will get going soon.

I bet it won't be too bad this weekend. Water was 44-46 on the south end yesterday. With warmer days all this week it should go over 50. I bet there will be quite a few fish make a move to banks to spawn when the water gets 55ish. They are ready to go they just need the temp to get higher and trigger them.
There were still shad dieing yesterday out there.

The water temps will come up during the next few days. These fish have not moved they are still shallow. This is the perfect time of year to catch a Big fish.

I can say that the fish were not "on" last weekend... just keep track of the tournaments on Fork. They tell a story. I hope they will be on this coming weekend!

They were catching some a little over a week ago and I have no doubt there were some 20+ days then. It just wasn't this week. There have been some 9+ fish caught as well. I still don't think it's going to get gang busters until those lows stay in the 50's. Then we'll start popping.

I have a great feeling about Fork this year. If any of you guys fish the lake a lot, you should enter that Big Bass Bonanza put on by the Lake Fork Chamber of Commerece. If you get lucky and catch a lunker, it pays really good. I think if cost about $25.00 to enter and it goes all year long. YOu can go to their web site at info@lakeforkchamber.org and get the info. fishing has been slow but there have been some really nice fish caught. it should bust loose next week sometime. We are looing at 70's over the week-end. Lunker Luck Larry Barnes Lake Fork Guide (still have a couple openings in April but only a couple)

I was with Randy Oldfield. Of course he swung it in the boat like it was 3lber. Drives me nuts when he does that.
