Thought this pic showed a decent representation of a good crate set-up. Cutting the tops of your PVC at angles makes for easier rod loading.

What do ya'll carry that you don't see in the pic?

This isn't a kayak, but you get the idea. I used the largest zip-ties I could find to mount the rod holder to the outside of the crate and I found that 6 Plano 3700 boxes fit perfectly in the crate. I tossed these in just for the photo. I use one with terminal tackle in it while I'm fishing so everything is in the crate. If needed I could mount another rod holder to the rear of the crate. These are to the left of me while I'm seated, so that I can cast over my right shoulder and not hit a rod on the back-cast.

I quite using a crate for the most part as they catch a whole lot of wind.

I don't have all the answers, but I'm a quick learner!

I'm scaling back my fishing big time. I've debated about putting a second rod mount on the back of the crate but I keep telling myself to keep it simple and that my kick boat is about fun and relaxation. If I can't catch 'em with one of the 3 rods I brought that day I can live with it.

I usually carry a Plano waterproof box for my camera, phone, ect...
I am more of a fly fisherman so I keep 2 big fly boxes and 2 tackle trays in the crate
. Other than that, rodholder on the back and tools- net, boga grip, scissors, and pliers on the sides. For some reason I always keep 2 extra scupper stoppers also
