I fished from 2:30 to 5:00 and landed 7 fish. I lost a few also. Saw quite a few people with limits, they said 10:00-12:00 is when the bite has been on. Tried several bait combos, found a white Lit'l Fishie with pink head to work best.

Fish under the trees, there are always crappie there.

I'm gonna try to go this weekend with my girlfriend. Maybe my parents will come down to so I can catch a few more limits wink

I hear they bite pretty well at night on the far side to the left when you first come in.

I was going to go, but I forgot that it is spring break this weekend and I don't want to deal with 10 million kids running up and down the bank while fishing :-/

May still go down there but I hope it isn't to horrible.

I plan to go on the 19th & 20th of March, but my waders are leaking. I am able to stand cold water for a while but not for the # of hours I plan to fish. Is the water low enough that I can just forget the waders? As long as the water is not up to my privates, I'll be fine since my legs don't seem to mind being cold. I can even find a boulder to stand on and fish if needed.

Thanks,

Ken

Hey ken,
are your waders neoprene? mine leak enough to so my jeans through, but the neoprene will keep you warm, or atleast warmer than without. I use to fish the river in shorts when I was a teen but those days are over with.plus if you find a shallow spot your next step might be up to your neck.

We seem to hang lower as we get older but it could be the water is colder now than it was when we was younger.

Yes my waders are neoprene...I appreciate your input about them keeping you warm(er) even if some water gets in - I had not thought about that. I'll just patch the leaks as best I can to minimize leakage. As long as the fish are biting, I can handle some water in my waders.

We fished Friday and Saturday a little north of CBSP boat ramp. Friday in about 3 hours, we caught approx. 70 to 80 sandbass, keeping & cleaning 48 total (44 males, 4 females). Saturday we fished about 2 more hours in the morning, caught approx. 60 more, keeping & cleaning 44 total (39 males, 5 females)
The crowd on Saturday was growing pretty large at CBSP, by the time we were done. Sunday there was light rain, so we just called it a successful trip & came home early.

Keep the reports coming.

Sorry, I should have put what we were using in my post. We were using a 2" pearl white/tiger stripe lil' fishie, & used a red sharpie to give it a little bloody look. We also used spoons, & curly tail jigs, but not with the same success as the lil' fishie.
