Titans are good looking trucks but you can't go wrong with an F250 Crew Cab 4x4 Diesel..........

haha! No, hard to compare it to a 3/4 ton diesel. But comparing it to other 1/2 ton V-8 powered trucks, the Nissan is pretty high on the list.

I have the 4X4 Armada (same engine, ect as the Titan). It will yank a boat around great, and it gets incredible gas milage while pulling my Ranger. The brake problem is real. I am on my second set of rotors. Nissan says that it will fix the problem.

MMurphy is right. I use to tow my old 20-foot center console with a Jeep Grand Cherokee and at around 68 mph, the boat would start swaying. I got to looking at it and the wheel base was inside the wheelbase of my trailer.

Had a Ford F-150 and it pulled the boat as fast as you wanted to go.

Why does everyone want a 4WD? As few times as you use it down here, it just gets into your wallet (gas mileage and axle maintenance). Don't think that front axle will go and go and go without any maintenance on it. It will cost you an arm and a leg just to keep it up to snuff.

A 1/2 ton any-brand will work just fine!

Cracks me up to see these 'lawn boys' hauling two lawnmowers and a couple of weed-eaters around in a single-axle trailer behind a $40,000 diesel.

If you're not hauling livestock, a gooseneck trailer full of hay, or moving a John Deere tractor around different pastures, then in my opinion a 3/4 ton any-brand diesel is a waste!

Get yourself a 1/2 ton gasser with the towing package, tranny cooler, and appropriate axle ratio with anti-spin rear and you can haul any bass boat around Texas week in-week out and save almost .30/gal over a diesel.

Good luck whatever you decide! smile

Gotta agree. I just don't see the need in a big diesel unless you are hauling cross country. Granted, if you are on the road a bunch like some of these tour guys, I'd want a diesel too. But for running up and down Texas roads, a 1/2 ton is plenty.

My defense for My diesel is it was My money that bought it. It is more fuel efficient than most any gasser. The price difference in diesel/gas is temporary and not 30 cents difference........if you look at average prices for the last 5 years diesel is about the same or cheaper than regular gas.
It should last longer than a gasser.......but the most important was my first reason.

If you really want a long lasting fuel efficient long life vehicle and can wait, diesel half tons should start appearing in the next 2 years as they will be able to comply with epa guidelines. Then you will see half ton diesels with plenty of power and rated somewhere in the range of 21 city and 27 hwy.

PS. My wifes jetta tdi has a lifetime average of over 44 mpg, driving mostly in Metroplex traffic(going up and down 360 in Arlington during rush hour). Trips...forget it...its well over 50mpg. One of the most efficient vehicles in the US.

Have an 04 F150. Pulled my buddies 20ft Nitro with no problem. Plenty power and no sway or walking at 75 mph. Great ride with the new rearend. Good gas mileage, too. Pulled my club partners' tournament v-18 w/ a 115 merc to Lake Fork and back and only burned about 1/2 tank of gas. I LOVE MY F150.

From experience, I've got to pitch in with refin, fishmagnet, TheBassKing and notyet on this one - a good 1/2 ton 2WD with AT will do just fine. I had a Bronco 4WD while living in northern Maine which allowed me to get my boat down quite a few nasty roads, trails and washes to the lakeshore, and it was handy in the frequent 2+ foot snows, but once I moved to Texas, the 4WD was overkill, never used, and just something else to maintain. In about 10 years in Texas, I think I used the 4WD once, and that was to pull out a guy in a station wagon who had backed down his boat and trailer way too far and off the end of a boat ramp eek Anyhoo, I've been in an F-150 2WD AT for over 7 years now and have been quite pleased, don't forget the tranny cooler if you're going to tow. My only disclaimer here, Kyle, is that if that Titan 4x4 (yes, they are sweet!) really flips your switch and you have the means, then go for it, you only live once! cool

Hey BJH, Seriously, I only burned a half tank of gas from Irving to Lake Fork and back. My partner can vouch for that. He drove out there.

Drive the new F150 Super-Crew. I have about 10,000 on it now with about 6000 towing. It gets about 12-14 pulling. Has plently of power, does not down shift on overpasses.

The best thing about it is the interior and quiet ride. I will get another one. laugh
