I have seen a lot of bass guys put smaller hub props on their motors, It is called over and thru hub exhausting, instead of just thru the prop hub ,like the one the prop wizard, is telling you that you need. What size, style,and type of boat do you have, also what hole are you mounted on? There are diff.holes on transom clamp brackets that bolt your motor to the boat. You should not be any higher than 2nd hole or you could have a cavation problem, blow out, like what you were saying your prop was doing. That most likely did not cause your piston problem. I will tell you what happened when I get the power head.

Cary I was running down the lake yesterday and the motor just shut down the motor started fine ran good no buzzers went off no warning lamps nothing the motor is a 2001 evinrude 225 ram air I thought I ran out of gas because it was getting low on fuel put some fuel in and all it does is turn over don't fire up I have a extended contract on the motor for and extra 15 years any ideas

Is there any thing I can check before taking it in the last time I took it in the raked me over the coals I am little weary I just need some ideas what to do

Check the fuel line. It may be coming apart and causing a fuel restriction.

If this is a fitch motor it is fuel injected, there are fuses under the cowling on starboard side. Check fuses, If they are good, listen at the back of the motor while some one cycles the key and see if you can hear fuel pump run, you have to put your hand on the pump to feel it run, some are quiet. If the fuel pump runs then you will need to confirm spark. pick the easiest spark plug to pull,note the line drawn down the white part of plug, you will need to put this line back in the same place it was before you remove it. Put spark plug back in the wire and lay plug against the block and have someone crank engine. If you have spark, then you have a fuel restriction. The fuel water sep. filter is on front of engine behind breather box. unscrew filter and see if fuel is in filter. let me know what you find.

How far north do u come? Have a 130 Johnson that is backfiring at an idle but runs great at full throttle. Think it needs a tune up.
