Took one of my boys, my Dad, and friend out on the lake last evening becuase everyone so was pumped up about the fishing this week on Rayburn. The lake is just a hair above pool and the fish were really biting. We had one good six plus pounder and our best five went 17 pounds or so. We fished in the back of Harvey but it was pretty stirred up so we crossed the lake to the Black Forest/Mudd Creek area and it was good. Most of the fish came on floating worms, wacky worms, and Senko's but I had a great bite on a wake bait and another on a spook. With all the rain we are getting right now, the lake will probably jump again. That should put two or three feet in the bushes and make the trap bite perfect with the hydrilla line 4 or 5 feet below the surface. We didn't throw the trap much, with a four year old fishing that is usually not in anybody's best interest. If you are looking for a place to stay on your next trip to Rayburn, we have several great cabins and lake houses that we manage for people and would love to have you come and stay with us. We have one great house on the south end and several great places around the 147 bridge and the new Cassells Boykin Park. You can contact me on my cell at 936-240-1700 God bless and good fishing, Jeff Buchanan www.jeffbuchananrealty.comoffice 936-897-1099 cell 936-240-1700

We have two lake houses still available. One is in the Hanks Creek area and rents for $1150 for the week of the tournament. It has a three car carport so if you have a group everyone can keep their boats dry and that one sleeps 6-8 comfortably. The other house I have is a big lake house by the 147 bridge. It rents for $2,075 per week but the home owner may do a four night minimum. It is a 3 bedroom 3 bath with pool table, huge decks and portable dock for keeping boats. If you are looking for just a few nights, Lukfin is a great alternative. Many people use Lufkin for lodging for that touranment because it will get you out of the "crazy traffic" at hotels, resturants, and gas stations. There are great hotels in Lufkin and it is only 30 minutes to the Lake (Jasper is 10-15) so it doesn't add much to the drive. For information on Lukfin, contact Tara Watson at the numbers below and she will help you. Tara Watson-Watkins Executive Director Lufkin Convention and Visitors Bureau 1615 S.
