first time boat buyer looking at buying a 99 model with 800 hours on it. is that considered alot of hours?

That's not high for a boat that age but it is over all.

I'd want a mechanic to do a compression check to make sure the cylinder pressures match fairly close. TFF Member Mike Bristow at North Texas Fiberglass can do an overall Pre-buy check on the hull and engine for you.
