If you bleed them out you will notice the red line is really faint. It works and it makes a huge difference in the taste of the fish. Once you try it 1 time you wont go back. Just slit the throats on all your catch about an hour before you head in for the day. Let them bleed out in the water for 30 min to an hour. This will take out most of the "fishy" taste. food

Thanks for the tip MikeG02. I'm from the Northwest and that's what I always did for my Salmon & Steelhead.

silver king i remember rudy postin about taking the fillets and putting them in a 5 gallon bucket and shoots them with the jet setting on a garden sprayer about 5 times till most of the bubbles quit showing up that gets the wild tast out of them and there is no need for anything else . me on the other hand likes them whole (baked) and seasoned well with slits cut for onions and lemon wedges . baking seems to not taste wild to me . also i have wrpapped them arounf salvadorian type tamale leaves nad put them on the grill . they taste great this way . just saying'

Thanks Jesse, I like your idea of slits for lemon, lime, onion, etc. then onto the grill. I'm going to try that one of these days soon.

That is if it ever warms up enough to get out & fire up the grill.

That is a good idea thanks
normally I angle cut the red line with electric or sharp filet
Only takes a moment and really makes the fish much taster.
I will try the bleed out thing.

If people understood what was important in life, there would be a shortage of fishing poles.

I used white jigs on a 1/32 oz UNPAINTED jig heads. BUT: minnows, tightlined on bottom in the deep pools below the riffles and rapids, are deadly on these sandies.

Good Luck,

Rudy

Lovfldx please PM me. I tried contacting you and it said that you are over your private contacts. I tried down near where you were talking about I think for about 2 hours today with not even a bite. I was using 1/32 oz unpainted with a white grub on it.
