I am wondering how the fishing at Twin Buttes south pool is this time of year, and if it is possible to wade it?

You can wade some of it but I'm guessing the water temp at 52 right now. Haven't heard any reports from it lately. You might try soaking some minnows at Gardner Dam or catfishing off the south shore (maybe the pump station)

Wish it would rain enough to fill up both pools.

I liked Twin Buttes when people were skiing through the Equalization channel---it was 10-15' deep! Them were the days. Past 3 years back there wanted to get in the South Pool just was afraid of launching from the bank without 4WD. Bet there are some good fish over there.

Was hard to leave San Angelo and go to Fl with the "great" fishing. In my time of the 70's-80's in San Angelo I could leave work go home hook up the boat and be unloading at any of 3 lakes in 30 min. And there was always the 30-40 min drive to Spence, and longer to Oak Creek or Brady.
In Fl could leave work get home in 30-90 min and be unloading in another 30-90 min depending on traffic.
Lakes aren't full--now, but enjoy San Angelo---good town.

I moved to the Dove Creek area two years ago and my neighbors tell tales of skiing from Twin Buttes up Spring Creek in the early 90's. Hard to believe. The creek below the last spillway is now down nearly 8 feet from where it was 2 years ago. We need the remnants of a couple of hurricanes to park over this area for a few days each!

My bro-in-law was on the lake on Saturday and did ok flipping. He had a couple 3's in deeper water on the channels around 15'. Lots of crappie fishing going on up both rivers. Be careful and stay in the channels when running up the rivers. The lake is up a bit due to recent rain, but still VERY low compared to this time last year. Water temp was 48 on Saturday when it was Sunny and 65.
