If a big city like Pittsburgh, with that pathetic excuse for a fishery called the 3 rivers can hold a Classic, then there is absolutely NO reason the Classic couldn't find a home somewhere in the state of Texas if a city decided to do so. Most cities probably do not feel there is enough support or enough money generated from the event to put it as a priority or throw money at it.

Maybe BASS was disappointed at the turnout for The Memorial that was held on Eagle Mountain a few years ago. I was an observer for that tournament and the spectator turnout was rather pathetic. They held the weigh-in at some coliseum, cant remember the name, and the crowd was small.
With that being said, the tournament that was held on Lewisville looked like it pulled in a pretty good zized crowd. I wasnt there, but on television the crowds looked good.

San Antonio probably has a better chance at it, than DFW area.

White Rock lake would be great. Right in the middle of dallas and you could watch your favorite from the shore and set up vendors right on the banks of white rock. There are many pattern working that time of year the creek, middle lake and west banks. It would help the lake and really see some big hawgs in the lake. weigh in at jerry's world

Bassmaster fished White Rock Lake in March 1997. It was the final day of the Megabucks tournament that started out on Richland Chambers (Mark Menendez set a new B.A.S.S. record for largest bass at RC that weekend). They fished it as a hole type course (like golf) where all anglers ahd the opportunity to fish each area during an alloted timeframe. Starting positions were picked in order from the qualifying finish at RC. 1st place qualifier had his pick of starting spot on White Rock. It did make for a good vantage point for the spectators as you could easily walk around the lake and watch whomever you chose to watch, or just stay put as they came by one by one. However, the fishing was pretty bad for the most part. I saw Jimmy Houston catch a pair of underwear on a firetiger crankbait, Denny Brauer pitched his plastic lizard into the coffee cup of the guy standing next to me near the small bridge, that was cool. laugh Not many bass were caught. In fact, there was a tie and the 2 final anglers had to go back out on the water till someone caught the first keeper (can't remember how long it took but it was less than an hour). It's too small for a Classic though where they have 50 anglers. For the Megabucks, there was only 12 anglers fishing and with each angler required to stay within their designated areas for the allotted time, there wasn't a problem with crowding.

I would like to see it at Ray Roberts with the weigh in at Texas Motor Speedway. You would have to figure out a way to do the weigh in's in case of bad weather.

I would just like to at least have an Elite Series event at one of the local lakes at some point.

As for Ray Hubbard, maybe things can start looking up at some point. The Bush (190) is being constructed which would be a straight shot to the new Garland Exhibition Ceter which may be too small but the Convention Center in Birmingham looked pretty small from a TV standpoint. We have Bass Pro on the lake, The Harbor wit The Hilton right there to host parties and give Zona a nice perch to host the show from.

The down-side. The City od Dallas doesn't give a rats asre about the upkeep of Ray Hubbard. Garland, Rowlett and Rockwall would have to get together to come up with a viable plan and money to host a Classic, only then would Dallas be interested in getting involved.

I would want to hold the Classic on a lake with a 5-14 limit that has plenty of room for spectator boats and the anglers.

I think that we could get record attendance at the classic if it was held here.

I was wondering what everyone else thought would be a good classic lake/place to hold the weigh-in.

I think that Lewisville then hold the Weigh-in at the AAC would be easy but the Classic is in the middle of the Mavs & stars seasons...........

Those are not "LAKES".

Lake Palestine with weigh-in in Tyler. Palestine fishes great in February, especially compared to the lakes around DFW. Just look at recent tournament results.
