Taking the boat down to Somerville this week/weekend. I have read some of the other threads on Somerville. Never fished the lake before, but can anyone give me any infomation on where we should lanuch?, good areas to fish, and any info on techniques and bait selection? I have done alot of white bass and hybrid fishing just never on this lake. Anything would be great Thanks!

You'd be better bank fishing...they are really wacking them right now in the creeks.

I don't fish the main lake for hybrids/whites til about 3-4 wks from now. From my experience the lake temp needs to be at least 56-58 degrees.
You can occassionaly find the hybrids schooling on top at the dam late in the afternoon hrs. this time of yr. That will be a hit or miss/you just have to be there when it happens. I've seen them stay up top for only 5-10 minutes, and have seen them cruise down the dam taking 45 minutes.
The wind and water temp is a big factor this time of yr. If you launch at the lake then try and launch from the protective cove at Yegua to make launching/loading safer.
Try Birch creek, or explore up the Yegua. Using a jig in the creeks should produce some crappie right now. smile

Be ready for high water, piers are under water at all parks, so be careful getting in and out of the boat after launch, especially if the wind is blowing into the bank where you launch.

I would suggest going up one of the creeks, and you can get up a lot that you normally cannot get up, Cedar Creek, etc. Once up the creek, beach the boat and walk the shore casting a road runner in anything that looks like a deeper hole.

Good luck
