What do you mean by opening week? Fishing season in Texas is 365 days per year.

I would not launch at Britton Park as I've heard the same about break-ins. Joe Pool is very tough right now w/ high, muddy, cold water. Things usually pick up about mid-march but the way the weather has been maybe a little later than that. Right now your best bet would be a red trap around points or a jig/tx rig around timber at mouths of creeks.

can you still catch fish around brush piles with deep crank baits? caught all fish deep when first opened ,

One thing I would try if you can't get bit up shallow or in the creeks is a jigging spoon in deeper water. Just look for schools of shad on you graph. Check some of the main lake points for this.

I launch at loyd park usually or lynn creek......cant help you on what to catch them on right now havent been on the lake in months...I know watermelon red plastics have worked well in the past.
