Sounds like this guy is just pissed because he can't catch any fish there...

Im confused. The Brazos isnt owned by anyone. And from what I understand either is the bank of the river.

If you camp below the dam, watch out for the raccoons. Last time I camped there it was an all out battle all night long. However, as long as you secure your food and garbage you will be fine.

All, I poke fun because I own land around Lake Limestone and could care less who parks their yaks or boats as long as they don't leave garbage and at least use a cat hole. The problem begins, as I see it, when a property owner feels they have certain/better/more rights than they may actually have in association with the ownership of their land especially if it abuts a body of water. A lot of the muther-luvvers on Lake Limestone I've cruised past have been the caricature of what most Yankees see us as... Yosemite Sam. On the flip-side there are more than enough nice folks that sit in their lawn chairs and wave as you go by and tell you things like, "throw it under that dock right there and wait a minute, you'll see." I mean honestly, If you see someone standing on the curb by the street do you immediately call the po-po? I think most of us would peek through the curtains to see what they're up to first, no? On the other hand, it seems that there are enough jerks in watercraft that think that if they can get there from their boat/yak/whatever they can go "exploring" or "just to take a look-see" and actually trespass which I am sure no one here condones. If they do, shame on them. But yeah, drill a well and quit stealing water from the river just to keep a livestock exemption.

Maybe if WCL tells us what exactly is bothering him we can help. Is someone actually coming on your property and taking things? Leaving trash? Vandalizing something? Let us know. We don't like that either.

Death smiles at everyone, Marines smile back.

Low bass...as Eddie Lane said, the BRA campground is in the shadow of the dam, and three minutes drive from the Hwy 16 bridge. Cool place to stay because 1. It's close to the river; 2. It's free. 3. They have bathrooms.

WCL...the guides on this site--and Shane Davies in particular--garner lot's of respect from us TFF regulars because he's taught several of us how to yak & fish the Brazos while respecting the river, the land and the land owners. Anyone that has spent any amount of time with Shane will tell you the same. You're right about the "10 percent," but blaming them on the guides is a non-starter.

WCL - I hope we all can enjoy and preserve the few unspoiled natural offerings the river and other areas have to offer before population uncontrol will inevitable spoil. But until then let us know how we can all work together and be accountable for maintaining collectively. We can only achieve this if we work together proactively rather than creating enemies. We are all on the same side (atleat 90% of us).

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

thanks to B_Rod and Dr. Protor for the replies, my friends and i are looking forward to our trip next mounth.
WCL i dont want to upset anyone when im out enjoying the river, i always respect the land and its owners, dont mind picking up trash others leave behind and am always willing to lend a hand, i think this goes for most everyone on the forum. i dont like it when mother nature is abused. if you happen to see us next mounth out on the river stop and hi.

I know on all the trips I have made out there we never leave any trash. You take with you what you brought. I think most kayak fishermen are respectful of the land and the water and nature in general.
