While hittin' some docks on CC thursday night I had a boat come up behind me. I had been fishing the same dock for about fifteen minutes and ten of which the boat had been behind me. Once the other boat finally figured out that I wasn't moving, they decided to go around which was fine with me but little did I know that they were gonna make a couple of cast at the dock I was fishing!!! I let the first one slide, the second I got kinda upset, and the third I was ticked!!! I was over to the side of the dock so I made a real long cast across the front of the dock, well this didn't see to slow them down!!! At this point I had to say something, I mean heck, the weren't more than 50 feet away from my boat!!! I said "Hey guys don't ya think that is a little close?" They replied with "we thought that you were going the other way." That is when I explained to them that I had been there for about 20 minutes now and I didn't plan on moving until I stopped catching fish there!!

They got the picture and went on their way. Funny thing, they came driving back by with their big motor as I was catching about an 8 pound hybrid!!

Just thought I would share that experience with yall, by the way, we ended up cathing about 30 fish that night along with 5 big hybrids!!

It sounds like you had a great night instead of the inconsiderate fools. I just think they think they are that much more important than the rest of us!

While at Fork this spring (enough said)... we were on a secondary point.... about 30 feet from the bank (casting distance) and catching some fish. We were tied to a stump and casting at the bank. The normal endless parade of boats down the bank... out of 10-15 boats (an hour)... most of which just swung around us... there were two that decided to go between us and the bank. The first... I asked if he minded going around and he got pissed... but did. The second actually asked us if he could cut through and we said we rather not.. that we had some fish in there.... he said "I'll try to hurry". Which quickly turned into a cursing frenzy as he went by. I guess that was too close! Ain't it FUN!

And I know who "Jeff" is.

Guess it depends on some sort of territorial space around the boat, also the attitude and demenor of the person\people in the other boat(s). I've had boats fishing close enough that the boats occasionally touched without any problems. I've had others that if they were in sight they were too close. Guess it just depends.

I want one of those stickers you see on cars that reads "If you can read this you are fishing to close".

This string sounds a little like..."You might be a redneck if..."

So here goes...
"You might be too close if..."
_I throw out the anchor and it breaks your ice chest...
_That new hat I just reeled in looks like your old one...
_You get wet when I take a leak...
_You smell something funny, but it ain't fish...
_My son can see that some of your teeth are already missing...
_I drag my fish across your console...
_All of a sudden you ask why I am driving your boat...
_You get mad when I ask you to hand me another beer...
_You get tired of me using your old lady's perfume for my fish scent...

Ok...Let's see what else we can think of...

yesterday had a boat anchor close enough the the bank i was fishing from I could hit their boat with a cast. See my post yesterday. I said something as well but they stayed. I know he reads this forum cause I've noticed him describing his boat. He didn't move and his casts were hitting in the water 5-10 feet from my sons friend who was wade fishing next to me. Some people just don't have a clue.

FUZZY,that's a good one!!!! I'll have to remember those.
Several years ago i was on Squaw Creek(remember that?) and i was in a cove, anchored ,fishing for catfish when my buddy says ...."surely to god that man, being a guide and all, isn't gonna come in here"....we wer'e in the back of the cove..........and i looked up and i'll be danged if this moron and his clients don't come within about ten feet of my boat.....so i asked him what the hell he was doin? and his only words were oh, i've got a baited hole over there behind you!!!!!!Then it happened,he gets up beside my boat, cuts two of our lines we had out with his BIG MOTOR STILL RUNNING,and the coward gotta a cussin like he's prolly never had and will prolly never have again......and he just turned his head and acted like he couldn't even hear us.......i coulda pissed on him he was so close.......needless to say,the fish were gone, but we made sure that rude *** didn't catch any either......it seems as though my motor kept trying to flood and rev up or something laugh .....when we got back i called and reported him to the coast guard and tpwd d...don't know if they did anything...prolly not but itmade me feel a lil better......

They just don't have a clue. Last week after work I'm fishing off a dock on Lake Palestine. I'm chunking a big slip sinker and shad on the bottom...This family in an aluminum flat bottom keeps coming across my lines. The first two times I reeled in thinking they just did not see me. The next couple of casts they saw...never veered 20 feet off course...they did it to my buddy who was anchored a little further out. The funny thing was that they were within inches of finding some really nice lower end eating rocks...of course me catching fish didn't discourage them either. I can only hope they got gyped on one of those timeshares over at The Villages.

Anchored at a main point on the lake. Depth was 8'. I was chunking my lures towards the shoreline. My friend's son (6 years old) had tied a live shad and a bobber and the cork was drifting towards the shore. Boat decides to head between the cork and the shoreline. So shallow, he kicked up mud/silt. I was hoping he'd run aground.

At least he didn't scare the fish. We kept catching them. But with a 6 year old in the boat, I was extremely challenged to not say anything other than I think you're too close.
