tracker1212,

I think it made every CAT member proud to see your boy up there collecting a check. That's what it is all about. Congratulations on a job well done!

Also, Congrats to all the winners!

bobcat1,

Glad to see your going to make it to the One Rod/One Hook! The fish fry after the tourney will make it worth the price of admission.

Now, let's hope tracker1212 leaves his boy at home so we have a chance at collecting a check. If he doesn't, were all toast....because that boy can fish!

Keep going against the grain and keep finishing 10th. I'll do what it takes to put myself in position to win. I personally wish more people would refuse to troll.
Two years ago, very few teams were trolling at Lavon in February and very few teams weighed fish. I saw more people fishing the way they needed to to win yesterday.. We had new winners and more fish caught. Seems like CAT is doing a good job of teaching people to become better fisherman.
I'm not scared of anybody or any style. Your good teams can do it all, shooting docks, timber, bridges, brush piles and trolling, whatever it takes to win. It may help your ego to say you only fish with one pole but your not giving yourself a chance to win on a day like yesterday.

Going against the grain?...Not sure where you got that...We spider rigged from 7-3 yesterday and I am convinced that is the only way to catch fish on Lavon in February...And it continues to be my least favorite way to fish...Quite frankly if that was the only way to fish for crappie I wouldn't fish for crappie...You trolling lovers, party on!!...I will defend your right to troll and probably join you in February on Lavon when that is all there is...

Hey, thanks Jerry for noticing where we finished...And yes, congrats to all the winners...Tough day and you showed well...

I troll from fall until June. I troll timber, brush piles, deep flats, and depth changes. It's the method that I learned to crappie fish by. I like catching fish on a single pole jigging or watching a bobber disappear and I fish that way for fun. However, when it comes time to compete, I'll have minnows in the boat and I'll have my trolling rig ready. It's an effective way to fish for crappie. It may not be the funnest but, that's where you need to make a personal decision on whether giving yourself the best chance to win comes first or personal enjoyment of the method.

I need to go fishing with anybody that thinks that watching 4 poles slam down at once when you push into a structure is like watching paint dry. Reeling in fish and snatching poles at the same time trying to figure out which one has the bigger fish on so that you pay it attention first is some good stuff to me.

As someone said already: CAT is alive and well.
It's future is bright as the morning light.
I was proud to be a part of it and to see so many show up on a cold February day.

What a great turnout for our first tournament. Thanks to all members participating to get this year's trail kicked off on the right note. It sure is reassuring that the seminars are imparting the knowledge we need to improve our crappie angling success. It was enjoyable to see so many of us utilizing new techniques on the water and the new names on the leader board.

A special congratulations to the father/son Gaskill team for winning Divison 2.

Stick to your guns Tim. thumb Fish the way you choose to fish. No one should dictate how you fish. Aren't these tournies supposed to be about fun, learning and COMRADERIE among fishermen? Guess I am STILL confused about the intent of the CLUB. confused hammer FYI! Congrats on your 10th place finish buddy. rolfmao FYI! Everyone has an opinion and a better way of doing things. Just ask them... cheers

Tim Im with you. I remember being taught to think outside the box and go north and all of that and then see 20 boats inside a football field, I guess it worked for somebody.
