What kind of rod was KVD using in the classic?

Quantum Tour KVD cranking rods. Quantum designed the rods especially for KVD. You can get them from most any major fishing store these days. Exact same rod as he was using.

Just think if he had top of the line equipment.

One thing about him, the camera is on him alot and you see him fish what he represents.

I washed my hands of Quantum about 15 years ago. I never looked back either!

Read an article that said KVD does use most of the time equiment that he reps. He may change hooks ,etc. But mostly right out the pack.

I walked up to his boat at a Lewisville E-50 tournament, and his rods were so brand new from the sponsor, that he had left the plastic wrap around the cork handles. I asked him why he did that, thinking I was going to hear something top secret, and he said, naw i was too lazy too take it off! In other words, it doesn't matter to his fishing one bit, like JCB said, he could catch them with a cane pole or broom handle and uses equipment jjust like the rest of us, only he is a master craftsman with those tools.

I seen a $500,000 dollar review about that rod yesterday when he won the Classic for the third time.

Like someone said earlier he could win with a cane pole. The fact that he won his third classic does not mean the rod is great (it isn't) HE is great. One thing about it though they were all throwing lipless crankbaits...that technique doesn't exactly require a high end rod just the right action rod.

Yes, Tackletour was not overly impressed with the rods, but they didn't say they were junk either. Pair them up with flouro and you have one helluva good crankbait setup. I borrowed one from a friend for a day last May and bought 4 of them the following day. They're good crankbait rods. I don't care whose name is on them.

I can promise one thing and that is if KVD had his input on the development of the rods like he was its a good rod built for exactly what he uses them for. KVD could be sponsored or use anyones rods he wanted and get paid big bucks. I personally have one on order and who knows may not like it but I can say I have seen him fish that rod enough to know its got the perfect action for what he was doing with it!
