Ok fellas and ladies...I come to you in a time of need. A good friend of mine is experiencing a very tough...yet joyfull time in his life. First off my friend is a single dad of 3. He is a firefighter for for a small FD around the Conroe area. His son has had problems with his heart since the day he was born. He has been on the heart transplant list for the past 2 years (He is now 12 years old) and Thursday night they recieved the call that a donor had been located. At 1:13 am on Friday they had successsfully transplanted his new heart and are on their way to recovery. His son has been in Texas Childrens Hospital for the past 6 months awaiting a donor and the financial burden of it all has taken a toll...So what I would like to do is organize a benefit tournament to try and raise some money to help him in his time of need. I have never organized anything like this and have no idea where to even start. I do know that it will probably be on Conroe or another lake aroun this area. So I am just asking for some advise on what to do to get this thing rolling.

I thank you all in advance for any help you may be.

Sincerely
Chris

A very full tournament schedule on Conroe to compete with thru April.

Conroe Bass calendar

It's also hard on Conroe to get many entries when their isn't much prize money on the line. Likely 90% of them aren't going to enter unless they personally know they guy. Of course in a benefit it's for raising money for your cause. A fair amount of the locals who are most of the tournament entries are already fishing something. For a benefit to be sucessful you really need to know alot of people who are outside the normal tournament scene who would fish your tournament. Make it more of a social event.

You could do alot of work on a benefit tournament and have it bomb on you.

I would think a online silent auction would be a better fund raiser if you can get some items donated. With the economic times thats tough also.

Maybe a raffle of some nice prizes would work well?
