I wanna fish during the drum run, when does it start and when is the best time to try and where in galveston is the best spots?? Best bait crab, shrimp?

Fishing is the chance to wash one's soul with pure air.
It brings meekness and inspiration, reduces our egoism,
soothes our troubles and shames our wickedness.
It is discipline in the equality of men--for all men
are equal before fish

I know the reds run right around late summer into fall. You can catch them almost anywhere...litterally almost anywhere. The drum should be out running right now. I know ppl are catching black drum right now.

I've been using dead shrimp and have been limiting out. That was about 2 days ago, before we got to this campground in Harlingen. They are very wary and you need not get too close to the school with your boat or they will leave the area. Prepare to cast as far as you can once you spot the dark spot in the water of the schooling fish.

BU's (Big Uglies) aka oversized black drum...
time-now through April
bait-fresh live blue crab, fresh dead shrimp
areas near galveston-houston ship channel, sea wolf park, north jetty, rollover pass, high island

Bullreds
time-anytime of the year (the actual run for me starts end of August-October)
bait-winter time-fresh blue crab/fresh cut mullet/whiting
-fall time-fresh cut mullet,whiting
area-large concentrations of bullreds caught from North Jetty to Sabine Pass. We usually tear them up around the High Island area.
