Any body been out to Medina lately? Wondering if those hybrid bass schools are still thick near the main lake.

I know with the Nueces so hot there isn't a lot being said about Medina. Anybody hear anything? It is much closer to home.

i went out last weekend, it was nice for 20 minutes, caught a few trolling, then the winds from hell blew in, it got rough quick. the fish seemed to be caught after the bend, and heading up to the mouth. a lot of locals say it'll hold off for another week or two
i haven't seen so many trees on medina, my old crappie hole looked like a cliff, that lake is still low.

I had planned on going yesterday, but couldn't wake up after a long day on the Nueces. I'm going to give Medina a shot next week.

Cool, let us know how you do. Maybe some of the rain heading this way will go to the right spots the lake needs.

I will probably fish Medina in a few days. If I go I'll post a report. Medina is still over 34 feet below full.

Went this weekend. Saturday we caught one crappie shallow. While trolling we caught 3 whites and 2 hybirds. Sunday we bass fished and caught 6 small bass and one that was 4 pounds. All the bass were still deep.

That's Medina! It's a deep cold body of water and it usually takes some warm days and nights during a long stretch to get the water temps up that will cause the fish to turn on.
We are getting there unless we have some late unexpected freezes.
Just one more cast!

Sunday we launched at the Couny Park and proceeded to head upriver in search of whites. We pretty much trolled 3-5 rods the entire time. Caught one trolling a Shad Rap before we got to Turk's Head. At Turks Head I tossed out a crappie jig on my ultralight (4 lb. test) and trolled it in the prop wash as we made a pass. Rod doubled over and just as I grabbed it the line snapped. So we hit the mouth of the river and I figure why not, I'll try a jig in the prop wash again. Moments later I was again broken off. I had wised up by then and tied a double jig speck rig onto my Curado/All Star combo loaded with 12 lb. Big Game. Again I tossed it into the prop wash. We were in the river by then and I had the rod propped up on the transom. By now you can probably guess what happened. As I was tending to another rod, yes, the Curado/All-Star combo went overboard. I was privy to seeing it go in and slowly sink. We worked the area, dragging slabs and Rattletraps to hopefully snag it, withoug any luck. We went upriver as far as we could then turned around and trolled back out with only a couple of largemouths to show for our effort. Another pass by Turk's Head on the way in yielded nothing. Pretty expensive trip without much to show for it (one white and two largemouths between three of us). If anyone happens upon a 7 foot All Star with a green Curado on it, feel free to post up! I'd gladly take it back. It is in the vacinity of the lone boathouse on the cattle pasture on the right side of the river as you head upstream.

Sorry to hear about your rod. How far up were you able to go? Did you get near Pop's place?
