I have a 5ft rod, but bluegill don't put a HUGE fight so I don't find it necessary to use it. I just enjoy catching and releasing them.

That does look like a really good BG fly...put rubber legs on just about any nymph fly and it will catch BG but that one looks especially good.

As ha been stated, about any juicy, buggy-legged fly ought to do the job with proper presentation. That being said, here is a video of a nice buggy fly along with a brief note on presentation by the tier

That being said, here is a video of a nice buggy fly along with a brief note on presentation by the tier The comments on presentation in that video are spot on. Slow, almost agonizingly slow, long strips occasionally allowing the fly to fall back are really effective.
