Okay, so I have a new family member and the Titan King Cab just does not have the room/space I need/want for two car seats, so, debating trading it in on another vehicle.
Since the wife hates the idea of a minivan, so she will not give up her car for a "family" car... heh, the truck has to go :p
I am told that my bass boat weghs about 2200 lbs max, but I am not comfortable having a vehicle pull it that is rated at 3500lbs max towing capacity.
I have a Triton 186-DC and am curious if anyone out there pulls their boats around with something rated at 3500lbs?
I am currently looking at a lot of different options, one of which is a KIA Borrego. Never heard of the thing before, but I am told it does not matter as the thing has a 10yr 100k warranty.. heh
(It's the largest KIA they have)
Who else out there pulls a good sized boat with something rated below a bulldozer?;)
Thanks!
Any input is good!
Russ

Russ I Have a 2008 KIA Sorento V6 towing capacity of 3500 lbs. I tow a 1991 Tracker TX17 with a 40 hp. I have not had any problems launching or retrievel with this KIA. It pulls up the ramps great. Handles on the road very good and no problem stopping. If you need more info let me know. Tom H

I hear the quality of a KIA is not good. You own one.. how is it?
The Borrego has about 5k towing capacity.. I am figuring it should do fine. I just need to get past the idea it is a KIA. I think seeing one will help.
I do like that 100k/10 yr warranty though.

I have had mine for 16 mo. have had 1 little problem fixed in less than 3 hrs. an accelreator switch. I am getting 20-21 MPG in city I keep weekly records on fill up and milage I went to Ark. last spring got 23+ on the road lot of it mountain driving the ride is very good I had the Factory class 3 hitch and the step rails installed I was a little hesitant on the KIA also was not sure about the towing of the boat It is working great. This was my first non American made auto but I shopped around and neither Ford or Chevy dealers could match the deal, that was back in Nov of 2008.The Borrego is on the line of the larger SUV's milage will most likly suffer some. There is a KIA forum you might check out. Keep us posted

You had best read the fine print on that KIA warranty. Brother in law has had all sorts of "discussions" with the dealers getting issues resolved on their car.

Just upgrade that Titan to the 4 door. It'll pull whatever you put behind it. Rated for what? 9000lbs? We pulled an 11,000lb travel trailer with one a few years ago. It barely knew it was back there.
( of course the Chevron card did !)
Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.

( of course the Chevron card did !) +1 Crew Cab half ton trucks now a days have lots of room. Ford recently with the new 09 and up added 5 inches to their CC's. Dodge has a Super Crew as well as Toyota's Tundra Crewmax. The nice thing is you don't give up the power and capacities, towability. I really don't know how I or anyone would get by without a pickup with a bed to haul stuff in even though I have a utility trailer, It's just more convienient for those runs to Sam's. I have a supercab F150 now and the wife has her Camry but I'll guarranty the next vehicle I purchase for myself will be a crewcab full 4 door half ton at the very least.

I think it really depends on what you can afford that does the job. I'm all for the quad cab trucks, super duty, dodge, etc. But, with those come a hefty price tag these days unless you can come across one used that's in good condition.
The plus to a heavy duty truck, a lot are diesel so the engine life is longer as long as it's been taken care of.
I've got an F250 Quad cab and it has all the room of a normal sedan family car inside, and I can haul/pull pretty much anything I will ever need to with it.

Look at the Tacoma or Fronteir 2x cabs. They might be a little smaller than the full size but should be fine for 4. The Tacoma will pull you boat fine. The other advantage is better gas mileage. Gas will go back up some day plan on it. I hope that when it does I am not making a 60 mile commute.

Yea, I think I am looking closely at a 2009 F-150 SuperCrew. I need juuuust a little more leg room for the kids.
My Titan is super nice, but not sure how it will be in a couple years.

If you have two car seats, forget the Frontier. I had one and loved it, but it will get tight in the back quickly. That said, the Nissan Pathfinder should have plenty of room and with the 4.0L V6, it's rated at around 6000lbs towing. There is also an optional V8 for a little extra grunt.
