 9.9 mods, most powerful 9.9??

One of the rivers I run up here has a 9.9hp limit. I want to max one out on power but don't know which brand to choose. I hear that some merc models were the same as 25hp models as far as size. Any ideas?

get a older 15 hp evinrude and put a 9.9 cover on it. Or get a 9.9 evinrude, and put a 15 hp evinrude carburetor on it.

No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

That's right. The J/E 15 and 9.9 are same engine except for the carb. And somebody's information is wrong on the Merc thing.

The newer Honda's (97 on) have a stop screw on the throttle. Remove that screw and you have 13.2 hp. Then for $20 you can change the jets from 48's to 52's and be at 15hp.

usually with carburetors, , the diameter of the throat needs to be bigger to make any difference. you cant just flood it with fuel, it needs extra air also.

btw, thanks for the info. I don't think a jet will work on such a small motor. You lose about 30-40% of your power when you install a jet, so you would be defeating the purpose.
