I wouldn't worry about the shad die off I would be more concerned about the cormorants. Those things are fish eating machines and have been known to devastate a fishery.

Hey guys..I'm just wondering how big the shad at fork get? They get pretty big. The biggest population is threadfin, but there are gizzard shad in there. I wish there were more.

Most big as you hand, 6-9 inches, you don't see as many now.. Those things will catch some big bass drifted out over humps in the heat of summer, and some gigantic Catfish too.

I experienced a little of that myself a few years ago. Very fun and very eye opening.
