lake fork was stocked in 1978 with florida strain bass. eight years later in 1986, Mark Stevenson shattered the state record with a fish that weighed 17.67 from lake fork. six years later Barry st Clair broke mark stevenson record with a whopping 18.18 pound lunker. 10 years later in 2002 Jim Harrell caught a fish that weighed 16.12 that fish is the last recorded fish from fork that weighed over 16 pounds, why is jim's fish important you ask?. the time span from 1986 to 2010 is 24 yrs in that timeline the record has been set , then broken, and the last recorded 16 pound plus fish was taken from fork. you divide those 3 fish into that timeline, and it averages every 8 yrs fork will give up a fish that goes over 16 lbs or breaks the state record. we are on the 8th year this coming march, so if this pattern continues we could possibly see a new state record or, at worse someone catches a 16 lb plus fish lets hope this trend continues. thats why i say it could be a possibilty. .... side note i am not saying there hasn't been another fish caught over 16 lbs from fork since 2002 jim harrells fish is the last one that i can find with data from tp&w or the share a lunker program You forgot one tiny problem- LMBV. The Large Mouth Bass Virus has taken a heavy toll on ALL the lakes it has affected and it takes a while for the lakes to recover.

What he said about the LMBV is true because I believe they found one over 18.18 floating dead a few years back at a marnia.

Yep, I am on Larry's client list as well. I wish I knew 1/16 about fishing, that he has forgot.

Talking about floaters. I remember back in the late 90's there was an guy who ran a trolling motor shop on 515, by the Country Store. He had a 20 lber mounted on his wall, said his son found it floating. I was a kid then, 12 years old, he gave me a used prop for my buster boat's old, uncommon trolling motor, grabbed me by the shoulders and said "Now go get you one of those!" pointing at the pig on the wall. That very evening I caught my PB 10.4 lbs. Haven't caught one that big since. Great man, will never forget that man. Died the next year of a stroke before I ever got to tell him. (sorry just takin' a trip down memory lane)
