Hello folks I was on Lake Fork today and learned something I didnt know before today. While running from little Mustang to the dam,I noticed coots out in 50 ft. of water. As I came to a stop I noticed threadfin shad stunned and dying. One or two every 10 yards or so,and the coots were eating them along with the pelicans. The low 40 degree water temp has taken its toll on the shad.Untill today I thought coots mainly feed on vegitation.Inside little caney I saw a coot swimming with a shad about 4 inches long in it mouth. Most of the dying and stunned shad were from 2 to 4 inches long.Water temp today was 44 to 45 degrees.I believe this shad kill should actually help the fishing or catching in the long run, nature just taking its course

Boy, Fork has been long, over-due for a shad kill. Too bad it couldn't have happened in November, the jiggin spoon bite would been that much better.

Tony, did you get many bites today and are the gates open?

Alton I did not, however I saw a plane flying telephone pole high off of the water.Seening white plumes of smoke coming out of it at mouth of chaney, then again at the dam. Then it headed down the big caney arm out of my site.I didnt have my camera ready at the time,I thought could they possibly be spraying? It came back over lands end and I saw a black plume of smoke then it went strait up and headed in the direction of Dallas.I started smelling something weird in the air,so I Got off the lake as fast as I could. It may have just been someone showing off, however it scared me a little. You just dont see stuff like that everyday! Im still puzzled about the whole ordeal?

We were playing golf at LE today when that guy buzzes the hole we were on. I waved and he let out a stream of white smoke. We discussed his being a terrorist and trying to poison us, lol.

I always though Shad stressed and lots died when the water temps were in the mid 40's, making for a good jerkbait bite

Anyway the plane spraying out white smoke happened about 12:00 to 12:30pm yesterday and I ended up with a bad headache by 3:30 and some lung discomfort, today my eyes are burning.Just wondering if anyone else had any ill effects from the white plumes of smoke? If he wants to spray or do a air show again I sure hope he gets that plane up off the water! It looked like he was crop dusting to me!
