I would go to Welsh. Seems to be the better fish.

It seems I catch the numbers at Welsch but bigger fish at Monticello. This is my first trip this year and cant decide where to go. Thanks for the help. I will post a report tomorrow night and let you know how it was.

How is Welsh as far as stumps/hazards? Do you just launch and start idleing around like at Monti when you get past the bridge?

Not true. Welsh is nasty with stumps. You had better know the lake before you get on pad. At least Monti is safe before the first bridge. Once under, point your boat toward Smith bridge and you can run that. Be very careful anywhere else.

the north end of Welsh may be one of the best places on earth to get your boat hung on top of a stump, there's some stuff on the south end that can get ya if you ain't paying attention too.

why on earth would you go to either of them now? the best fishing the "spawning season" is long since past on the power plant lakes....
I'd go to Monti if I was so inclined.

bite was sloooow. Did you try a weightless wacky rigged yum dinger? my partner was wacky worming a senko off and on during the day.. i think he had one bite. slow rolling a spinnerbait through the grass was best for our boat. another boat was drop shot the grass edges, they had seven fish all day
