Other than Lake Fork what other lakes are serious contenders for a State Record?

All interesting stats but no correlation.....
The only stat that would be close...how many 16lb+ fish came out of Fork before the State Record and in what time period?

Who knows, Casa Blanca kicked 2 14's from that small lake down south a few years ago. Alan Henry up and peaked and kicked out 7 and thats a colder lake were bass don't get the benefit of growing 365 days, imagine if you could regulate that temp for maxed growth with minimum stress to the fish like Socal climate.
I think the face lift that Falcon, Amistad, and Choke received in 2004 has allowed these lakes to be top contenders.
As long as mother nature keeps all that newly flooded growth from years of droughts covered with water, I predict we'll see a push towards the 16+ mark with numbersous entries to the top 50.
Mother nature plays big part, no droughts, no major cold fronts down south for long periods of time, no major heat waves.

Lake Fork was opened for fishing in the fall of 1980. no records i can fine show any bass over 16 before 1986 the stats listed are just for comparing different lakes which might have the best chance for the record fish with what they have produced so far

Buda, I agree that HC might have it, but I didn't want to put it in the same catagory as some of the other lakes. They are there just not caught like they are in some of thes other lakes.

You need a good supply of high protein Trout. That is what would help have a new one. Don't know if there is one out there, now.

Lake Raven in Huntsville State Park
"While you may never have heard of Lake Raven, a small impoundment in Huntsville State Park, its a safe bet you will know the name before long. ShareLunker offspring are being stocked into the lake (along with five others) as part of Operation World Record (OWR). Growth of the fish is being monitored, and this spring a 23-inch-long, four-year-old bass weighing 7.23 pounds was recovered from Lake Raven by biologists using electrofishing. This is well above the expected weight for that age fish."

I think in my area Lake Austin could be a contender. I think it will come from Ivie or one of the south texas 3.
