Once again we learn boats, alcohol, and kids don't mix. If you didn't hear a guy doing donuts around a jet ski pulling a tube runs over a 15 yr old Highland Village girl who went to high school with my kids. The guy wanted to create waves for the tubers. They arrested him for intoxicated manslaughter. I had 8 kids watching the news last night talking about the tubing trip we took the weekend before saying they didn't want to do it again..

Thats very sad to hear. I read the article on nbc5i.com but it was very blunt and didn't have alot of detail.

Isnt it illegal to purposely make wakes on the water around other boats? Or in this case, do donuts around another boat so that they can "jump" the wakes.

There are well written rules about conduct on the lake and boating safety. It only takes one person to make something like this happen. Most of us on here know what the rules and regs are for our safety and the safety of others. When you add an intoxicated individual to the mix, that is doing something they think is fun and harmless, there can be disasterous, alarming results, as we have witnessed here with this death. I send a prayer out to the family of the girl that passed, as they are going to have to live with this for the rest of their lives. Damn the dummies on Lewisville! ( and any other lake for that matter) we are forever hoping they wise up, we see way too much of this on a day to day basis out there!

I sent the follwing email to the Denton County sheriff: Please tell me exactly when the DCSD is going to start patrolling and enforcing rules on Lake Lewisville? How many more deaths and accidents do we need? How about starting at Sneaky Pete's?? Paul__________ Contact the Denton county sheriff here: http://sheriff.dentoncounty.com/main.asp?Dept=54

The girl was a 15 year old sophomore cheerleader at Flower Mound Marcus High School. Candlelight service tonight for her at Treitch Methodist. Hundreds of schoolmates including two of my teenagers attended. The girl was on the freshman volleyball team last year and the Varsity was playing a tournament in Duncanville on Saturday and the players inscribed her initials and number on their arms with a sharpie for their matches.. Very sad situation...

On my trip today we witnessed more stupidity and I don't care if the person reads the TFF and sees this - IT WAS STUPIDITY! This guy was letting a 10 year old or less little boy run around his boat with no life jacket on at ALL! With wakes that could and would throw an unwatchful adult in the water much less a child.
When your son gets hurt or drowns because you are too dumb to make sure he is safe you only have yourself to blame!

Leprechaun- i think your first reply has no place on this thread, period. If you want to post a fishing report then start your own thread. I just feel sorry for the girl's family and friends, and my prayers are with them.

Pretty lame way to get your name out in front of the Lewisville folks, I doubt if the family appreciates a guide ad, Tacky.

I agree Hooked up, I am only assume/hope that Leprechaun thought he was on a different thread. Very sad situation.
There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

I have to agree on that comment with the others. He is not showing any respect for this thread or the girl that lost her life and her family. My thoughts and prayers go out to them.
Also, why is Luck O' the Irish trying to sound like an Italian mobster?

Lighten up, I'm sure that was probably a misfire. It's not like a fisherman is beyond making a "puter" error.
This was a very tragic accident that has not only ruined one life, but likely several others.
