If you were thinking of stopping by and seeing what they had to offer.. forget it. I didn't see one fish in there today.. walked around it, threw an spinner and rooster tail and saw not a thing.
not even a minnow.. no kidding. if they are in there, they must be some new invisible fish, cause that place is just a glorified puddle.
TPWD has been stocking it too, which really gets under my skin.
If we have to pay to stock it, the least they could do is plant some lilies and stock some minnows so the little guys can eat.
sheesh

Thx for the info - me and a friend were talking about that pond, didn't know about it until we saw it on here!

the pond floods over into the creek very easily with just a little rain. i have never had any luck there when it gets cold and the pond is very small. i have caught a couple of 1-2lb cats and a ton of bluegill out of it. the fish seem to hit on hotdogs and corn the best since most young kids use it to fish with.

It really bugs me that TPWD is basically stocking a drainage ditch, but when I ask them about stocking Brackenridge they tell me that the population there is sufficient for self replenishing.

I wish the pond was bigger also, but it does provide an area to go fishing for young ones in the area. that is the one thing missing in san antonio, decent areas to go fishing and be able to eat what you catch. up in north texas there seems to be ponds and lakes everywhere but here we have just a few places.

We hiked this area Saturday - a few turtles, some minnows (not many) and two dead fish! One was teeny, 2-3", the other was a good 8-9" and had huge claw marks in it's side, I assumed from a bird. There was some activity under one of the low branch overhangs at the side of the pond where the sidewalk meets it, looked like fish were going after a few insects on the surface. Not sure if this would be a productive spot at all. Oh, and only one duck!

there were five ducks, a bunch of turtles, and no fish seen yesterday. they expanded the walkway so there was a ton of people going up and down by the pond and very little parking, but it was nice to see the ponds filled up again to make one pond.

i have seen plenty of waterbirds there, cormorants and egrets, but when you walk the entire pond and don't see one minnow, its time to give up.

when ever there are good rains the creek overflows into the pond and then down the water way. i have heard of people going up and down the creek catching some nice fish. they will restock the pond soon and the fishing will get decent again.
