I'd rather catch them on a jig due to the average size that a jig seems to catch.
With that being said I throw a soft plastic more often due to the variations that I can present the lure with and if I'm lucky enough to catch a limit then it's the jig for upgrading. Especially this time of the year. The jig is a better close quarter's reaction bait as well. IMO

I'm better off with a soft plastic any ole day of the week. Jigs are a jinx for me.

Jig on one rod and plastic on the other. Pitch both and see if they seem to prefer one or the other. When in Doubt;Pitch it Out!
