I am having trouble matching up my google earth longitude and latitude #'s to my lowrance. I know that there is a difference between minutes and seconds on how they display but if anyone has a soulution I would love to hear it! Anything will help!

Do you have the simulator downloaded on your pc? if not, go here http://www.lowrance.com/Downloads/Product-Emulators/ find the model of your unit. Get it installed. I will go back through mine and make sure I can remember how to do it. If not, I think Medic here on the forum is a Lowrance guy and may be able to chime in.

push the menu button twice and go to gps setup. Push the right arrow to move to the next menu. select the down arrow to change the selection to coordinat system and then push the ent button. This will get you into the programing.

Also, on any AID lake map there is a formula for converting gps coordinates from one type to another. This would be taking Google earth to Lowrance numbers.

MWilkins...

Do you still find the coords to be a little off on your unit from the overlay coords provided on the google earth site? I have tried to match them a couple of times to an old foundation and it is a couple of hundred feet off.

I do have matching units of measure selected.

Just wandering, oh I mean wondering.

Thanks.

I would have to go back and look but last time I did this (was on Welsh) my points seemed to be fairly close. Problem is my boat has been in the shop since the first of December. One of theses days if I get it back I will double check but I may forget about this post by then..... grin

Google Earth gives you degrees-minutes-seconds. To convert them to degrees-minutes, all you have to do is divide the seconds by 60 and add them to your minutes.

Go into "Tools" in the GoogleEarth toolbar. Go to 3D. There should be four options for you to choose to match your GPS.

No need to do that if you change your head unit to the same units as Google.
